i really want to be a model or actress. how do people get discovered? what are some good modeling agencies? i just want ideas and suggestions please?

What is the deal with newyorkGal??? She gives a lot of wrong answers in here, so just pay no attention. The film and television industry is based in Los Angeles, NOT new york. There is work in film and tv in new york, but only a small amount compared to LA. If you want to be a Theater actor, you want to be in NY.
There is modeling work in both LA and NY. I dated Cathy Ireland's sister in Santa Barbara. Cathy never lived in NY. She made it HUGE as a model by driving to LA.

If you want to act or model, you must live in New York City. The acting and modeling industry are in NYC.

I have the same dream as you!
I would suggest you to get into acting classes and your local theatre. And then get an agent, show em what you got. Agents will find you auditions and stuff!
