If you divide the war budget ($452,000,000,000) by the number of people living in Iraq (26,000.000), we've spent $17,000 on the "liberation" of every man woman and child in the country.....most of whom oppose our "support"

The Feed the Children program can provide food, school supplies, and medical aid to one child in Africa for about 20 dollars a month...thats 240 dollars per year....which means we could have provided support to every man woman and child in Africa for 2.7 years.

Other ways to spend $452,000,000,000

22,000,000 Hybrid Cars (@ 20,000 each)

75,333 years worth of research at the National Cancer Institute

90 years worth of AIDS research (based on what was approved for the 2006 budget)

Could re-build New Orleans and the gulf coast 2260 times.

Anybody else feeling sick yet ?

Ipsydoodle - After serving in Iraq, I understand your point on leaving the Iraqi people to defend for themselves, but isn't that what we've been doing to the people in Africa for years now...

Matt - I understand that national defense is a key part of the nation budget, but we've got to ask ourselves what helps us more in the long run, supporting the countries who really need it, or giving ourselves a black eye.

What Americans don't realize is that when kill a terrorist, you don't get rid of one, you create five more. The middle east has been a violent society for years...they fight for their families, their land and their religion the same way we would if they or anyone else invaded us. Why not spend the money on the people who need our help, and then if the Iraqis finally realize they can't do it on their own, then we can give them help on our terms.

I'd also like to point out the lack of pro-bush / repub who answered this...truth hurts i guess

Whether you agree with the war or not, National defense is a correct function of the Federal Government. So notify your representative, and tell him you want the other 2.5 trillion, I said trillion, dollars to buy us a hybrid.

Federal Budget=3,000,000,000,000.00 A YEAR!!!

Most Iraqi's would prefer to run their own affairs, but are terrified that we will leave. Most Iraqi's were euphoric when we toppled Saddam Hussein. Then we stumbled, and many ordinary Iraq's paid the ultimate price.

You have every right to critique - God Bless the 1st Amendment.

Regardless of how we got where we are today in Iraq, we would dishonor ourselves by abandoning the Iraqi people to a terrible bloody fate at the hands of religious extremists. How can we turn our backs on these people?

We cannot abandon the people of Iraq without disgracing ourselves in the process.

We used to be an honorable people. Osama Bin Laden was right afterall - we have become fat and lazy, and have lost the will to fight.

Yes but the Carlyle groups stocks would not have grown as handsomely. it was estimated that it would cost 300 billion to meet the Kyoto accord but that would have hurt big oil. the name of the game is keep the money in the hands of the big money. We could have funded UN food programs for 455 years. But that might stop terrorists from hating us as much, it is better we start wars....better for the military industrial complex

And when I lose the pastime, I lose each and all of the money. And BANG!!!!!!!!!!! each and all of the money is complete. i will lose a minimum of ones in 30 days if I play many times day and nighttime. (Arunachalam became only I action picture and it became pretend. They teach any element they like in action pictures. it is not actuality. If this occurs in actuality anybody could win the guess easily. This became one among the thank you to spend 30 crores and that i'm confident that their are many different the thank you to try this)

I felt sick the moment G. Bush entered office. I saw through all of the **** he told Americans while running for office. I'd like to point out that he hasn't made a good decision since entering office, and has only corroded out country's moral and freedom. Quite frankly, he belongs in jail!

Why don't we spend the taxpayers money wisely, and use it for the impeachment, removal from office and trial of The Great Deciever, George W Bush?

For what we are buying, it's cheap.

My family fled Islam in the 1950s.

We've been expecting this war for decades.

You have no idea what we are facing, and how much they hope you win this argument.

I can always convert.

You're out of luck.
