The appearance of almost all US Presidents changed while they were occupying the office of the Presidency, especially when they have had to be Commander-in-Chief in times of war, or there have been scandals, investigations of associates, assassination attempts, investigations of their own potential misdeeds, impeachment proceedings, etc.!

If you would compare before and after pictures of FDR, Truman, Ike, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, I believe they all looked older, more haggard; more bald, more gray or white haired than when they took office! JFK, having died before he had served out his first term, probably had fewer changes in his appearance; but even in his case, I'm sure there were some noticeable changes, his having gone through the Bay of Pigs fiasco and the Cuban Crisis.

People age in 8 years, but I agree that Jimmy Carter aged the worst. Apparently, Bush has other problems as well.

He's aged visibly. Most two-term presidents do. It's not just 8 years. It's 8 years of the most stressful job in the world. If he hadn't taken all that vacation, he'd probably look like the Crypt Keeper by now.

I've really noticed in my life how being president ages people, Jimmy Carter looked like a young kid when he took office, and like a worn out old man 4 years later. Bush has also aged more than 8 years it seems.

Of course- everyone's appearance changes over 6 years. And anyone appearing on television is likely to be wearing some make-up. The amount will vary on whether it's an indoor or outdoor shot.

He sure has, media following him around makes it hard for him to drink blood without anyone finding out.
And being out in the sunlight isn't doing him any favors either.

I have noticed that all of our recent presidents seem to age significantly while in office. The stress and the responsibility must be heavy on them. But if they can't stand the heat they need to exit the kitchen and do so quickly.
