If a child was born 1 month premature, and 3 months have passed from their DOB, their ______ age is 2 months.

I don't really know how to explain this better. In discussions with my mother about my daughter (5 weeks premature), I apparently mentioned a type of age that was neither gestational, conceptional, nor corrected, As this was 6 1/2 years ago, I don't remember what I said. Now she's asked me and its driving me nuts!

blade lady - it has nothing to do with my daughter now. With regards to her, it is in the past, but I now have a very premature cousin and my mother is trying to remember the term

The correct term is corrected age. My son was born almost 3 months early (11 weeks early). He just turned 3 last Friday.

Chronologic or birth age?

Postconceptional age?

Yeah, don't you hate that when you can't remember something? Sorry, I couldn't come up with something better. Absolutely everybody I know with a premature infant used 'corrected' age. In other words. John is 2 months corrected age.

our little girl was born 12 weeks early at 26 weeks so we have to correct her age by 3 months , our little one is 2 so we just go by her date of birth rather then constantly worrying about adjusting her age all the time , it used to confuse me so much when the midwife started going on about 14 weeks when she was born but that was to do with there way of measuring for her health book , nowadays i try not to worry too much as my little one is absolutely fine and doesn't appear to have any side effects from having been born so early

good question

i had an argument with the midwife about this today

im expecting triplets and she said i should be prepared for birth from 24 weeks onwards,,

its a worry , i hope they let me hang on for as long as possible but im told that its a fact they will be born early because there quite simply isnt space for them all in there

good question

My daughter became a 26 a million/2 weeks early. She have been given to depart the scientific institution some weeks until now her due date. She became approximately 5 or 6 months while she caught as much as toddlers her age- different then her length needless to say. So we now no longer had to pass by utilising her "adjusted age". the only element that she became somewhat in the back of in became getting her first enamel. She have been given her first enamel at twelve months- an analogous age my husband have been given his first enamel-in accordance to his mama. So we do no longer be attentive to if it became genetic or if it became by way of fact she became early. different then her small length she's springing up on time. each and each toddler, no count in the event that they're preemie or complete term will strengthen precisely on time. some may be somewhat "not on time" or "stepped forward". some may be stepped forward in some factors yet no longer stepped forward in others. My cousin's youngest became a 32 weeker and her woman offspring had a lot of problems. they had to grant her thickening to characteristic to her beverages, etc. My cousin became irresponsible and accomplished stupid issues in the time of her being pregnant which did no longer help in any respect. She's rather small and became in the back of on some understanding- verbal yet her motor skills have been ok. She's finally off the thickening and her different well-being problems are not as undesirable as they have been. i think of its specially by way of fact she's no longer in my cousin's care anymore. maximum preemies do seize up in length by utilising age 5 a minimum of. My MIL's perfect pal's oldest became a preemie and at age 8 she looks and behaves like a typical 8 twelve months previous.

If 3 months have passed since their birth, they are 3 months old. They don't count from the time they were due, they count from the day they were born.

With my twins the heath visitor and midwife reffered to it as their corrective age. Is that the word you are looking for?

I also have a premee and I think the word you are looking for is "adjusted" age.
