No, precisely because they're "things"! And we're not just physical beings, we have a body and a spirit. Material things don't nourish the spirit, and in the end, the body, the physical self, dies.
Isn't it true that when you can have a material item that you really want, it's not long before the high you get from obtaining it diminishes to the point where you then require some other material item to recapture that temporary high? Material things don't satisfy us deep down for long, because we're only feeding a temporary desire.
Being happy isn't about material "things" at all - it's about a contentment of the spirit, that enables us to be happy in the deepest sense and to rest in that, content with our lot, whether we're millionaires or struggling to make ends meet. That said, there are material necessities that bring comfort and ease to our physical selves, to be without which makes us unhappy, uncomfortable, and sometimes sad and wretched.
It's pretty hard to be "happy" if you haven't a roof over your head, food on your plate, a fire to warm yourself when cold, or clean water to drink and some means of keeping yourself clean. So we do need the basic physical means to sustain a life that is reasonably comfortable, in order to be "happy". But happiness as we tend to use the term is a transient thing - nobody is happy all the time, whatever their circumstances. Happiness comes and goes, and because it isn't a constant, it is all the more sought after and valued when it happens.
Nowadays, our prosperity in the west has led us down the path of valuing material goods far more highly than is justified in terms of their contribution to our "happiness". Even my 10 year old son noticed some years ago that the boys at his school who always appeared with the very latest hand held computer game, full of enthusiasm, soon lost interest in it as the next "must have" appeared on the market, and wanted that instead.
So the difference between "happiness" which is always fleeting and temporary and a deep contentment of spirit is very important. And material goods do not feed the spirit.

It's a self~defeating question.
A) If you wanted happiness then you would already have it when you woke up.
B) If you didn't have happiness when you woke up it's because you never really wanted it.
The same two answers above apply to (All The Things In The World) issue as well.

I feel like I have everything I ever wanted. I have been married 23 yrs. I have 3 boys. I have a job I love, nurse. I own my house and cars. I serve a great God who takes care of my needs. I help those who are down on their luck due to unenployment.
What else could there be that I would need.
No one can truly be happy with things, till they are happy with themselves.

Of course not--why would you NEED everything in the world to be happy?
It's been noted that people win the lottery and who aren't happy with their current finances to begin with are bankrupt within 5 years. People who win the lottery and who ARE happy with their current finances are very happy and spend their winnings wisely.
If you were unhappy to begin with, being able to have everything in the world won't change that.

I dont think rich ppl are that happy, (i have worked for many as an appraiser). The real trick is to be happy with what you have. And yes I am happy where i am in life.

It depends. My pastor tells me, and rightly so, that if you are happy, having more things can make you happier to a certain extent. But if you are unhappy, having more things can actually make you unhappier. And that true happiness has nothing to do with financial stability. God bless.

I don't think anyone can have it all and be happy. The more you have the more you will always want, because you don't want to lose what you have. Donald Trump, Bill Gates, they have money power and prestige, they have had more than one marriage, but yet they still want more, because they are not satisfied or happy.

It is my belief that there ARE a FEW people who have what they feel they need and are content (Very few, though.) while most people, no matter how much they have, always want more... and never seem to be satisfied. Always looking for the next job with the higher salary, a better car, more this, more that...

Simple answer is - NO!
If you have anything and everything, what desire and motivation would be left for you? Your life will be boring and meaningless and then you want to find something that you want, and the cycle repeats.......
