When your lease ends does that mean you have to move or does it go to month-to-month in the state of CA?

It automatically converts to month-to-month with the same terms. The rental and those terms can be changed with 30 days notice, including rent increases.

read your lease since it is the controlling authority, if it is silent then the state assumes it goes to month to month with all the conditions covenants of the fixed term lease
