DO NOT FORGET"

I sat in a movie theater watching "Schindler's List," asked myself, "Why didn't the Jews fight back?" Now I know why. I sat in a movie theater, watching "Pearl Harbor" and asked myself, "Why weren't we prepared?"
Now I know why.
Civilized people cannot fathom, much less predict, the actions of evil people. On September 11, dozens of capable airplane passengers allowed themselves to be overpowered by a handful of poorly armed terrorists because they did not comprehend the depth of hatred that motivated their captors.
On September 11, thousands of innocent people were murdered because too many Americans naively reject the reality that some nations are dedicated to the dominance of others. Many political pundits, pacifists and media personnel want us to forget the carnage. They say we must focus on the bravery of the rescuers and ignore the cowardice of the killers. They implore us to understand the motivation of the perpetrators.
Major television stations have announced they will assist the healing process by not replaying devastating footage of the planes crashing into the Twin Towers.
I will not be manipulated. I will not pretend to understand. I will not forget. I will not forget the liberal media who abused freedom of the press to kick our country when it was vulnerable and hurting. I will not forget that CBS anchor Dan Rather preceded President Bush's address to the nation with the snide remark, "No matter how you feel about him, he is still our president." I will not forget that ABC TV anchor Peter Jennings questioned President Bush's motives for not returning immediately to Washington, DC and commented, "We're all pretty skeptical and cynical about Washington."
And I will not forget that ABC's Mark Halperin warned if reporters weren't informed of every little detail of this war, they aren't "likely - nor should they be expected to show deference." I will not isolate myself from my fellow Americans by pretending an attack on the USS Cole in Yemen was not an attack on the United States of America. I will not forget the Clinton administration equipped Islamic terrorists and their supporters with the world's most sophisticated telecommunications equipment and encryption technology, thereby compromising America's ability to trace terrorist radio, cell phone, land lines, faxes and modem communications.
I will not be appeased with pointless, quick retaliatory strikes like those perfected by the previous administration.I will not be comforted by "feel-good, do nothing" regulations like the silly "Have your bags been under your control?" question at the airport. I will not be influenced by so called,"antiwar demonstrators" who exploit the right of expression to chant anti-American obscenities. I will not forget the moral victory handed the North Vietnamese by American war protesters who reviled and spat upon the returning soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines.
I will not be softened by the wishful thinking of pacifists who chose reassurance over reality. I will embrace the wise words of Prime Minister Tony Blair who told Labor Party conference, "They have no moral inhibition on the slaughter of the innocent. If they could have murdered not 7,000 but 70,000, does anyone doubt they would have done so and rejoiced in it?
There is no compromise possible with such people, no meeting of minds, no point of understanding with such terror. Just a choice: defeat it or be defeated by it. And defeat it we must!" I will force myself to: -hear the weeping-feel the helplessness-imagine the terror-sense the panic-smell the burning flesh- experience the loss- remember the hatred.
I sat in a movie theater, watching "Private Ryan" and asked myself, "Where did they find the courage?" Now I know. We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living.

To a liberal, it is easier to blame President Bush and tell themselves that sitting about a fire, holding hands and singing Kimbra will make everyone love us.

As for pissing off the terrorists , we do that by supporting Israel. If we acquiesce to their demands and stop supporting Israel, who will they demand we stop supporting next? What if the demand ultimately escalates to "convert to Islam" or else? The whinners don't understand that caving in to one demand is all it will take. I've come to the conclusion that liberals are to national security what the Chinese are to toy and food safety.

Semper Fi Marine. Remember, the same goes for a retired soldier and the father of one now serving. I might be a little older and not as lean and fit as I once was, but I'm still a soldier.

Here's a link so you can read legislation 3 Democrats and 1 republican were able to pass to keep "president" Bush from funding terrorists with our tax dollars as he has done for years.
http://www.house.gov/list/press/ny09_weiner/070622SaudiAid.html
I guess the "liberal media" rightwingers are always crying about decided to give Bush & Co. a free pass on this and many other facts. The real 9-11 terrorists were Saudis, 15 of them. The biggest funding for terrorists (according to our own government) against the US comes from Saudi Arabia. Over 60% of the suicide bombers in Iraq are Saudis. And Bush keeps funding and kissing their as$es like the spoonfed Saudi bought & paid for little cheerleader that he really is.
Saudi as$ kissing has been the mainstay of our middle eastern policy along with supporting Isreal no matter what they do and both political parties are guilty. That doesn't mean it should continue. Given the activities in the Middle East today, this is a huge act of self sabatoge on our part (US) not to mention a HUGE drain on US tax dollars.
I am an independent not liberal or conservative, but instead intelligent, and as such I sit back and listen to rhetoric from both sides and wonder how people are so easily manipulated. It is time to realize we are all on the same team and hold leaders that assist known murderers of our troops accountable no matter what side of the political fence you are on.

I love the ones like the one above me. (DeusXmachina)WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER.

And the answer is????..........

The other shoe never drops......

I'll tell you what the answer is....

Constant vigilance.
A united country with eyes wide open.
Not blinking when it comes to expanding the military.
Not crying about listening into the conversations of criminals. Not whining about creature comforts in a prison that holds people who were willing to take out buildings and die in the process.
Not going before the cameras of the world to say the president is irrational one day and saying you can work with him the next.(Nancy Pelosi)
Not complaining about the inconvenience and cost of security
Not demanding capitulation.
Not going to your enemies hat in hand.
Not cavorting with a pocket dictator who insults your existence.
Not paying for the UN who says "The American heartland is too dumb to understand foreign affairs" (Malloch Brown) And cheers and laughs when a turd like Chavez insults you.
Not yell when the US sells guns to our source of Energy while Putin does the same next door.
Not wish you were in a socialist country like France or Canada when you know you couldn't handle it.
Not balk at talk of securing our borders.
Not gridlock the dialog with political correctness.
Not make wild false allegations about the only people who work to keep you alive.
Not cry foul when somebody suggests you go to work and pay your taxes.
Not blame all your misfortunes on the government.
Not snicker at someone who flies the flag.
Not condemn people who stick their necks out with an idea when you have none of your own.

If Americans united, at least in spirit, we wouldn't have to drop bombs.
No one would dare give us a reason.

The only problem for me comes in the last two lines:

"We have no choice. Living without liberty is not living."

Liberty=choice, but we have no choice. Means that if we choose to fight terrorism then we are living without liberty, which isn't living. What this problem tells me is that maybe there is a lesson underlying this whole thing which is: we must choose to choose. The fact is that the problem in the last two lines tells me that maybe the situation isn't as stark as it apears. If living entails choices, then it is important to make the best choice possible and that requires constantly rethinking and reevaluating the situaiton.

Give me a break. Liberals are the ONLY people who care about the Safety of this Country. Cons have never missed a chance to sell America down the river if the price was right.

We were only prepared to fight the Second World War because FDR, an archLiberal and favorite villain of Conservative scenarios, instituted the Lend Lease Program to ramp up war production BEFORE we got into the war. Without FDR, we would have lost.

Republicans were the appeasers. They were so enthralled by the way Hitler and Mussolini suppressed Labor Unions that they were willing to write off Europe. Even after Pearl Harbor, The Beloved Leader's Grandaddy led a Senate filibuster to prevent a declaration of war against Germany, until Hitler pulled the rug out from under him by declaring war on the US.

Don't talk to me about Patriotism. Your Party's "American Values" consist only of how much you can get for selling out American Interests.

I love the responses from the liberals, particularly from madpol1. And, after looking at his/her photograph, I realized that fitting all the mass into on picture was asking a lot from a camera.

Liberals unfortunately are so filled with hate against Republicans that not much will help. They live in this world where they do not believe evil exists.

Nothing will change this

I agree with Top. (That is a Marine MGySgt) Having served in the Marines for 20+ and just retiring recently, I have been to numerous foreign countries, friends and foes alike. I can tell you unequivocally that there are "bad" people out there that will do everything they can to kill us. The only way to protect us, is to pursue them. We can not let them sleep, we can not let them eat, we must be the pursuer or we will be the pursued, it's that simple. Terrorist are not going to stop, quit, and go back to their "day job", their job is to kill us, and no amount of apathy will persuade them different.
