just noticed a few flies going round in circles around the light. why do they do this? it's very annoying!

I think they may be attracted to the light...or maybe there is more space in the centre of the room for them to fly around! ;-)

SCENTifugal force. The flies go round the lightbulb because thats where all their mates meet up for fresh fries.

Yes they do! its the light
If you open a window or door and turn off the light they might follow the fresh air and fly out
