Absolutely not.... Your boss can hold your check until your regular payday only if you quit. If you are fired, they have to give you your check within 72 hours. If your boss is holding your check past your regular pay date, file a claim with the labor board. They have to pay your regular pay from the date they were supposed to pay you, to the date you actually received your check. A friend of mine went through this about 2 years ago, and scored $2,750.00, for hours he didn't even work. HINT: The labor board usually sides with the employee not the company.

If you quit without giving your 2 weeks notice, you are entitled to any pay up until that day that you left the company. You are better off not to burn any bridges and give them a 2 weeks notice.
I gave my previous employer 2 weeks notice and it was the best 2 weeks of my life there. I didnt burn any bridges and I still keep in touch with alot of my colleagues.

Your employer cannot keeop your check unless you owe the company money. In that case you should be provided with a pay stub that clearly documents any amount(s) you owe. Otherwise, stat with their Human Resources department and escalate to state's Department of Labor.

Of course not. They must pay you for all time worked. Period.
If your boss is being a price and threatening to do so, or is doing so, report them to the state or county labor commission.

No, they can't keep your check. But they might give you a bad reference for future jobs. It's better to go ahead and give them that two week notice if at all possible. Don't burn any bridges, ya know?!

by law they have to pay you for hours worked, but bear in mind that just quitting without giving proper notice is not only a chicken**** thing to do, it incoveniences everyone else from management on down. Schedules have to be re-worked, and people who had thought they could make plans may have to change them because of someone's inconsideration.

No, federal law says you have to be paid for all hours worked. They can't dock it for any reason, even if you owe them money.
