I recently had a free antivirus program i down loaded,but it would scan at the same time,i wanted to search the internet.Is there one that really works and that is free?

Don't get AVG, or Avast, they are the most popular but not the best. And Comodo Anti Virus is still in Beta, so they don't provide that great of protection yet. Get either Avira AntiVir or Active Virus Shield. Google them to get there website.

I have had great success with AVG. When my Norton subscriptions ran out I replaced it with this and it works great. In addition, I install it for clients who have no protection.
