Depends on what is wrong with it. Most usuall case, you will have to remove the camshaft and send it to be reground, then reinstall it. In some cases, you will end up buying a new camshaft and installing that, which at that point you may start looking into replacing the head, or, the entire engine, because if the cam is worn so badly that it needs replacement, then there are other components in/on the engine that are likewise damaged/worn and in need of replacement.

What is wrong with the cam shaft? Most of the time cam shafts are not repaired, but are simply replaced.

It's not a quick swap job - like Bentley Boy says, have a look at a Haynes manual for your car to get an idea of what's involved before you start.

Remove the little 1/2 inch hose connection on either end of feed hose from expansion tank to radiator, purse lips and blow into pipe, it does nothing for the camshaft but it makes a pleasant trumpeting sound.

Hi

What is wrong with the camshaft? Is it being condemned on the basis of a noise?

Best regards

depends on the engine size and wether it ppetrol or diesel but most of them are hydraulic valves so when you replace shaft it alters the vave openings so the valves then need to be reshimmed if you think you could tackle the job do it but if your not confident best get a mechanic to do it as it is a big job

Impossible. Try using a bent spoon. Then take it to a garage.
