This is probably an obvious questions. Most likely Left toward the Democrats and Liberals right? But do Gay voters still vote for the republicans who dont want to see equality with homosexuals?
And with that in mind, Are there many Conservative Gay groups out there?

(I am a Liberal and not Gay but was wondering the impact on Gay Voters next election)

Thanks for your Thoughts!!!

Thank you guys for your answers...
I just could not imagine voting for someone who would not want to give other American Citizens equal rights to marriage and flat out call names because of who they are. I see it as the newly accepted Racism of our times.
But I guess if there could be gay Christians (with a lot of discrimination), there could be gay republicans (with a lot of discrimination)...
(I am an atheist)

For some reason the left is viewed as for equality, but this doesn't come out.

Clinton signed 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell" into law. That law got more gay men and women kicked out of the military than under the 12 years of Regan/Bush.

Second Clinton signed the "Defense of Marriage Act" into law, letting states refuse recognition of gay marriages in other states/countries.

Democrats don’t give gays the right to marry. Just a second class status of civil union.

Republicans are for the Fair/Flat tax which would eliminate tax deductions for rug rats, and privatize social security so gays could leave their social security fund to their partner or charitable cause.

I cant imagine a gay person voting for a republican who isnt for gay rights. But then again I did hear of someone who was with her partner for years and didnt believe they should have the right to be married. She was one of those people that thought why does everyone need a piece of paper to say they are married. I have question myself. Just because you are a democrat do you have to agree with the issues that are pro gay. I mean are there any democrats that are against gay marriage and such. I am a lesbian by the way.

I am not gay and will not presume to answer for our gay friends out there. However, my personal opinion is the G,L,B,T voters don't "swing" as a block anymore than the mythological "black vote". These are people we are talking about and the folks I know have varied interests. While I would think the majority might be drawn more to a candidate campaigning for full rights and acceptance, the truth is neither party is blessed with many of those.

The gay couple across the street from me are Bush supporters and Log Cabin Republicans. There are quite a few gay men who are Republicans.

I believe that probably at least half don't vote that way, but I haven't seen hard statistics on it. I personally will only vote Republican if the candidate disavows himself/herself from the anti-gay stance of the party at large.

I think the impact of gay voters will be pretty large this next go 'round, but in response to your question, most gays are democratic due to the social aspect of that party.

I know a good many gay republicans, AKA Log Cabin Republicans, and most of their arguments are fiscal, and they also say "there isn't going to be a party FOR us, so why not be republican".

I think if ANY representative was stupid enough to flat out say NO EQUALITY, they would receive little to no gay support. Kind of obvious when I type it. lol XOXO

I'm Gay and swing Right! Being gay does not mean I have to be a fan of the left.

I choose what candidate suits my needs best. This usually happens to be a Democrat. Not always though. If a Republican comes around and I agree with their philosophies then I would vote for them.

I find it hard to reconcile when a person tells me they are LGBT and Republican. Republicans have supported the strongest hate-filled and bigoted laws and causes I have ever seen.

I cannot in good conscience vote for someone who wants to see me dead or in prison, just for being whom I am.

However, I don't assume that all Republicans have the same level of contempt for equal rights. I vote for the person, not the party.

Heck, I even voted for a Greenie once! :o)
