... (for the most part)

or is it harder for you to understand, than to express?

these days there is soooo much distance between the 'right' and the 'left' the rhetoric is astonishing ... so I'm wondering if you all feel it's more difficult for you to express your views, or you find its more difficult to understand why others feel the way they do

... and if you're in touch with what I'm talking about ... how can we educate ourselves to improve our communication

or is it simply a question of 'lack' of humility and accountability hiding behind a PC

I have no difficulty in expressing my views. I am capable of understanding most other views, also. It is the people who still support George Bush whom I will never understand.

It's very simple.

A political position is the application of a set of values to a set of facts.

Those facts reside in various disciplines.

FIRST educate yourself about the disciplines in question and research what the facts ARE.

THEN apply your values to arrive at a position.

You will then find that there really are only a handful of rational positions.

Some people - many people - first pick a "side" and then adopt that "side's" conclusions and then, rather than research the facts, just make up their own facts to support that conclusion - - and when you show them that the real facts - Census Bureau data, tax revenue data, etc... - don't agree with their made-up facts, they call the Census Bureau a "right wing organization."

Most of the disagreements I have with people on Y/A aren't a matter of people insisting that cucumbers taste better pickled.

They're a matter of people insisting that pickled cucumbers don't have more sugar and vinegar.

Understand, at least on YA...I tried the understanding thing for a long time...the left simply change their reasons and excuses too often to keep up with...after a while of being insulted and receiving hate mail you just stop caring what the extremist is saying and throw your opinion out there anyway.

There's a philosophically debate going on this country. Liberalism or Conservatism. Sure, there's independents in this country, but they're not vocal or proactive enough, yet, to be the third side. One side will eventually win the hearts and minds of the majority of voters. Until that happens, the fight is going to be on.

Some aspects of politics can be complicated to understand. (for example, How did Bush get reelected) I think I can express my beliefs with understanding.

You nailed it with that last sentence. People wouldn't dare be so rude to eachother face-to-face, it would cause violence.
