My daughter auditioned for a union commercial and got the job, she is not in the "union". What does this mean for us and how does it change things?

She doesn't need to be in the union to do this job. It would be a good idea to join the union afterwards, however, in order to remain eligible for other union jobs which are, after all, the only ones we want. (see above answer)

A union commercial can only use union actors and they pay the standard union wages. A non-union commercial can use anyone they want but the pay is typically a lot less and you don't get residuals for how many times the commercial is run. If your daughter got a union commercial, congrats! But because she is non-union you will have to pay the union dues now unless the agency that hired her is willing to pay them for her. I would definitely check to make sure that you don't have to worry about that because a lot of times you will be cut from the commercial if you're not union.
