The newspaper office will sell end rolls of unprinted news paper. REAL CHEAP !!! They may even give it away in your hometown. Ours sells for $4 a roll and I have more than enough and my niece comes over and tears off about 5 feet a day to color on....

I'm agreeing with using the reverse side of the wrapping paper or the Sunday comics. The reverse side of the wrapping paper though is only temporary. She'll see the Christmas wrapping on the other side once the gifts are open. Plus, in most cases, the wrapping paper will be a boring white. Your son may even get some strange looks. The Sunday comics idea is good because it adds color to the packaging. Put some of the animal comics on the top of the packages like Garfield. I'm not sure why so many people gave Braless thumbs down. It's not like she said use the dull, boring black and white part of the newspaper. Your son will be known as the kid who wrapped the gifts up in cartoons. With all the popularity surrounding Spiderman, Batman, and the Hulk, why isn't that a good idea? You should only use the Christmas wrap or Sunday comics though if you really cannot afford new wrapping paper. It would be better to just by the new paper though. For those items, it will probably only cost you about $5.

Go to the paint department of any home improvement store. They have rolls of newspaper-like paper that is used for masking off areas for painting. The rolls are about a foot wide and hundreds of feet long, and they only cost a coupla-few bucks.

there's a chain in the USA (don't know about Canada or Europe) called The Container Store...great source for what you need, including thin sheets and fat sheets of bubble wrap. I like the thin sheets of bubble wrap for plates, bowls, etc. Also, Costco has a 'mover's kit' for about $60 that has 3 diff. size boxes, flat bubble wrap, foam 'bottle sleeves' and wrapping paper, as well as 2 markers and 2 rolls of tape...such a deal!

call or go by your local newspaper and ask if they have the end of the roll for their newsprint... they will generally give it away!
