I've been connecting to the same WiFi access point for months and now it has a password or whatever and there are no other access points around my house so how can I find out the password or bypass the security?

There's nothing you can do about it unless you happen to make friends with the owner and s/he gives you the password.

It looks to me like they were running their wireless unsecured before, but now they know better and they've implemented WEP security. Good for them, but yeah, it kinda sucks to be you.

Other than getting the password, your only alternative is to set up your own Internet connection. And if you use wireless, make sure you secure it.

The ethical and legal thing to do is ask permission from whoever has that access point to use it by giving you the password. Maybe you can offer to split the internet bill.

WEP is a notoriously weak security scheme that has been badly broken. Fish around the internet for WEP crackers. From what I understand, it's pretty easy to crack these passwords in under 10 minutes with the right tools.

Now if they are using WPA security, you are sunk.

Enable WPA (WEP has been cracked, although the chances of anyone wanting to read your data is remote in the extreme), MAC address filtering and disable SSID once you have setup your wireless network. Regards EDD

For a start what you have been doing is illegal and can result in a prison sentence. You can not get round encryption, so maybe it's time you subscribe to your own service in stead of stealing someone else's.

you can't thats the whole point of having security, to keep the neighbors like you out. You can get your own connection though, make sure you secure it from your neighbors

you dont have to crack anything go into the router with one of the 3 preditctable ip addresses for router for ex 192.168.1.254 and see if there is a system password if there is crack that or just get off the router and if your stealing this service from someone else i am glad you cant get to it anymore and you arent getting enough instruction from me to do so only enough to tease you.
