Have you ever truly feared for your life?

I was very active in Union politics for about a decade. I hit the break pedal one time driving down the street on the way back from a Union meeting, and a shot gun shell wired to the undercarriage of my care blew a hole in the floor board of my jeep about an inch or two from my foot. That got my attention. Eventually I lost an election and got out of politic in a more conventional fashion, but I came from a pretty low income area, so violence and crime were not something I was unaware of but after a while enough is enough.

I spent about ten years in the military and was pretty lucky, I wasn't scared half as much during that time frame as I was dealing with the UAW. The Union is worse than management most of the time, and nothing is more disgusting and degrading as Union politics. Even open warfare. At least on a battle field you know the guys shooting at you are the enemy, Union politics resembles an insane asylem where everyone is out to get everyone else, integrity or decency doesn't exist in their world, concepts such as honor are looked upon as weakness to be exploited by the dishonorable, and mangement plays to the corruption to destroy it even further. It is a sad state of affairs.

I am glad I am nolonger envolved in such business, life is a lot more enjoyable and relaxed in my old age.

Yes. Once I was robbed at gunpoint. Another time, I was in a car accident. The third time, a helicopter flew real low over my house and it sounded like it was going to crash, but thank God it didn't.

once when some man was standing in the middle of the street in his underwear (in december) holding a shotgun.
