I saw on wikipedia that light coloured eyes reflect more light or something, or absorb it cant remember, and dark eyes do the opposite
does this mean that in dark conditions it is easier for blue eyed people to see in the dark, which is why it is more common in northern areas like Britain and Scandinavia, where the winters are long and dark [even thought brown and blue eyes are both found, blue is more common here]
and people with more common dark eyes such as in Africa can reflect the hot, bright sun, as it is near the equator, and also is out for longer in the year?

Images only enter the eye through the black part of the eye, called the pupil. A lighter eye does not mean that more visual information enters the eye. It is likely that blue and other light-colored eyes are a genetic mutation that offers no benefits but, as it did not lead to death before the blue-eyed person bore children, the mutation was passed on to further generations.

Rather than seeing any benefit from their eye-color, bearers of blue eyes are more likely to suffer from macular degeneration, where a region in the back of the eye disintegrates. Macular degeneration almost always results in premature blindness. Light-eyed people are also more likely to get cancer of the eye due to increased sun exposure.

Dark eyes absorb light and light eyes reflex it.

You seem right about the fact that Africa is hot and near the equator so the people might need more protection for their eyes...therefore they have dark eyes.(like sunglasses). Up in the north where light is somewhat rare...people don't need dark eyes.

I think it's really sad that you actually asked an educated question and are receiving really dumb answers.

But it does make sense that darker eyes would absorb the sun since darker clothes absorb heat. That's just the way I would see it.

People with blue eyes can get head aches if they are in areas with too much sunlight

I think I heard something like that; darker eyes can handle more sun, lighter eyes are more sensitive to it.

Yep, that'd be my guess. Heavier exposure to sunlight leads to heavier (darker) pigmentation.
