I usually don`t get cramps. I just get lower back pain. But, my last two periods i`ve gotten really bad cramps. I have an irregular period too. Can it be because i`m not eating well? I`ve tried drinking lots of water. What can I do?

Cramping can be caused by many different things but some people are just bound to have them based on an individuals hormones. During your period, water and cranberry juice are great because it cuts back on some of the pain that can accompany your period. Your period may just be going through a changing period especially since you said that it is irregular. The cramping may be your body's way of finally trying to regulate your period or it could just be your period changing. I would not worry too much unless the cramps are debilitating . Sometimes this can be very hard, but on your worst day of your period, try to lay down and sleep. This helps relieve pressure and you feel much better when you wake up.

Unfortunately all you can do is figure out which works better for you. Midol or New Pamprin. A hot water bottle or a hot bath. Try drinking cranberry juice all month or taking AZO. You can find them at any drug store. (It's a cranberry pill.) I get HORRIBLE cramps about twice a year. I just roll around on the bed with a hot water bottle for about 2 and1/2 hours. Then it subsides. AAAhhhhh. Hopefully yours have subsided by now. I'm thinking about you. Good luck. Lynn

i kind of had the same thing...only that my period was very irregular and sometime i would have my period of up to 17 days. My cramps were horrible but not back pains. I went to the doctor and he told me that i have unbalanced hormones or some crap like that...he told me to get on the pill bc that will help me get my period back to regular. .I did and my cramps went away. I don't know if that helps.

It sounds to me like possible "Fibroids" take yourself to your Dr. and have it checked out. Women get this and it is treatable..especially if it runs in the family so it is hereditary. Poor eating habits is not the cause of you getting bad cramps. Drinking lots of water is very good and you are suppose to drink 8 glasses of 8oz. of water everyday. I know we all don't do this but yes the drinking of water is good again it does not altered the cramping feeling..Go see your Dr!

Sometimes you may get a change in your regular pattern for no reason, and you might get cramps for a few months and then they go again. Try a painkiller and a heated pad, or if you're worried, see your doctor, even if it's just to put your mind at rest.

Actually, the more cold fluids you drink during your period it actually makes your cramps worse. Try sticking with drinking hot fluids, like my husband has made me sugar tea, or garlic tea. It will soothe your cramps in about 30 min.

It could be from not eating well. Question have you tried any form of birth control to help regulate your menses. There are alot out there and some of them even make your menses lighten up alot. If you are bleeding alot, increase your eating your green veggies for Iron.

You can start taking hormones (birth control) and that will regulate you and lessen cramps. Or, you can ask your doc to prescribe you constant hormones and you'll never have to bleed again! I love it.

See your gyn. for this matter - your lining may not be shedding properly or it could be a number of other things.
