Smiley - Are you delibrately being ignorant or just splitting hairs? Brian says the fund is paying for the accomodation. Gerry says its not. I really cant explain it simpler than that.

Toiet - I do give you credit some time, but others you really do come across as thick. Brian specifically says.

That means that the fund is paying for the accomodation. Do you agree with this? (I feel like Im back at school sometime with some of the people in here who cant understand basic english)

Buttercup - If they are lying about this, and pretty much lying about everything else then exactly at what point do they intend to tell the truth?

Ms Highwater - Yes take the route less travelled why dont you? Its blatantly obvious they mean Kate and Gerry's accomodation.

But lets play your game. So it makes it OK then if the fund is financing the accomodation of all the Team McCann members and all its hangers on. Im pretty sure thats what people intended when they donated money to the fund.

I really believe that the majority of donations were made from the heart in the hope of finding Madeleine.

What gets me is that in the very beginning, Gerry spoke of setting up a way to enable people to donate as their way of 'doing something to help'. Why has this suddenly morphed into some kind of money making business, selling things and organising fundraising events and concerts.

It seems that the fund has become a business with the sole aim to raise the fund.

Where are all the free wristbands being given out or plane dropped to highlight Madeleine's disappearance.

When has there been any free concerts or events using the fund money to raise awareness.

There's enough money in the pot to pay for accomodation, hire investigators and organise awareness events for the next 5 years and have some left over.

It's not being spent on these things, then what is it being spent on?

Brian Kennedy is a singer(albeit mediocre) and basically just a helper there,he's someone obviously concerned enough about this little girl to actually do something positive and helpful for the family.So he made a mistake when grilled by the media,doesn't mean it's a lie and Gerry corrected it.What do you want to do shoot him for getting a fact wrong,big deal.Before everyone starts with the Ah but we sent money,they're accountable etc,etc.You didn't buy a part of this families grief you sent it so they could utilise it in whatever manner it takes to find Madeleine.Although with a small percentage of people I'm not so sure.

It would be pretty interesting to see those accounts, wouldn't it? Obviously Mr Kennedy means ALL accomodation. It would be a bit silly to pay for all the sundry "helpers etc" & not for the McCanns themselves don't you think?
Many answerers on here must be deliberately not understanding this question or its content because it is very clearly stated.

Yes I agree! Who has paid for all the many trips and visits by family members, close friends and people they know?

Everyone was assuming by the title of the fund that a private team of investigators would be funded and were not!

I said it again and will say it yet again they should be out there looking for all possible leads, considering all possible means to finding their little daughter Madeleine.

mshighwater, if the money has been spent on accommodation for family members, well that's the point isn't it? I thought the money was to be used to find Madeleine, not to pay for the extended family and the Mccann friends to stay in Portugal.
As for the person who said the money had been raised for "The Family", really? I believed it was for Madeleine, to help find her, well i never, i sure misunderstood that didn't i?

yeah, i don't think they've ever stopped lying.The Portuguese media, British media, and the rest of the world have spent weeks pointing out all the subtle changes in their stories, and what the relatives say, etc. But still, I hope that they are paying for accommodation themselves, that money's not ment for them to spend on rent and so on, but for them to spend on finding their child. (Perhaps they should get all the "missing child" posters they have across Europe translated into the proper language. sorry, but no-one's going to find her, if in Tunisia, where everyone speaks Arabic or French, all the Maddie posters are in English.)

Does it matter if they're using the money or not?

I don't get why it matters if one is lying or confused as to where the money is being used. Hasn't it all been collected in aid of the McCann family anyway? ( And I personally do include Maddie as part of the McCann family even though strangely some of the people on here have decided Maddie's 'side' is different than her parents 'side' - whatever that means)

Edit: I see your point but this is hardly relevent. It could be simple confusion although I know alot of people aren't allowing the McCanns an inch of confusion or any kind of statement or action without it being read into very, very deeply. You wouldn't judge people without a missing child this intensly but a couple going through the most worrying, upsetting and confusing time of their (or most other people's) lives can't seem to do right for doing wrong. Harsh if you ask me.

I agree with Princegallahad. I believed initially that the fund was to help search for Madeleine, not to pay for extended family & friends to holiday in Portugal.
As for the lies, it's just one of many.
