Okay, I'm working on a sword drawing, and I'm currently stuck on the handguard, hilt and the top where you usually find something pertaining to the sword. I always have trouble with these. Can someone give me a bit of advice to help improve on these skills?

Research weapons for scroll work and fabrication of real swords...see how they are made and go off of that for your own creation.

Go and see if your libary has a bunch of swords books or whatever time era/area they were in and look a picture or make some copy of those or if they won't let you copy just check them out. Usually i just keep on praticing and praticing untill you get the hang out it. It all takes time. Never give up! Good luck. ;D

Find some books or pictures on them, use a ruler if you need to, or practice sketching strait lines, block it out so it's level, keep practicing as much as you can till you can get it down & then you won't need pictures, you can use pictures for ideas or create your own.
