Identical twins have the same DNA, so if 2 male identical twins Marry 2 female identical twins; and let's say both couples had a baby boy.

1) Wouldn't the boys have the same DNA?

2) Wouldn't that make them more than just cousins?

3) Wouldn't they also be twins?

crossing over of DNA during meiosis will prevent this to happen.
the sperm of the man would have a different genetic information from the sperm of his identical twin.

I have a very unique perspective on this, Mom and Dad are 2 of the oldest living Identical twins married to Identical twins couples in the world. My Aunt and Uncle are still alive and married as well. Each has 2 children. None of us look identical to each other , however, my cousin and I look more alike than I do to my sister or to her sister. None of the children of the couplings were twins, and none of the grand-children are twins. Both families have histories of other twins, and while we all guess they were identical, there was never any testing to prove it. My mom were tested (and are identcial), dad and uncle actually look more alike than my mom and aunt do, so we are guessing they are identical. There are no set rules a genetic disposition for identical twins although some of the research believed it was the male gene. We are waiting for the great grandchildren to see next generation results. Granted probably a few years off before we do. As personalities go, everyone is very unique including the twins. There are similarities as any sibling would have, and since we were all raised with similar morals, appreciations of education but nothing more than that. The most unique thing is the DNA, my cousins and I all register as brothers and sisters and are children on the same level of a true nephew or niece, as opposed to cousins.

they wouldn't have the same DNA, because not all kids 2 people have are the same, so those 2 couples would have the kids about as similar as 2 kids of any of the couples.

they would have the same DNA resemblance as siblings.

and no, they wouldn't be twins .. in any way, first of all, because twins have to be born from the same parents, grow in the same womb, and at the same time ... OK some identical twins can be born at different times, if they were 2 babies made of one egg, and one sperm, divided into 2, so the one is used and the other is frozen for later ... but that's super exceptional!

but don't forget: adopted kids call people who adopted them mum and dad, and their parents grandparents .. it's not all about DNA, so yeah, they would be cousins!

1) Wouldn't the boys have the same DNA?

No, not at all. The sperm cells of the males and the egg cells of the females will be made up of only one copy of their genes (haploids). During meiosis, the process by which the egg and sperm cells are made there will be a fair amount of genetic recombination between homologous chromosomes (pairs of chromosomes). This means every egg and every sperm will be unique as it will have received different combinations of genes. Consequently, each of the offspring will have recieved different sets of genes from each of their parents. Genetically they will probably be very similar but none the less unique.

2) Wouldn't that make them more than just cousins?

No, as they are genetically different from each other they are just cousins. Its true they might be similar in appearence but this is not a certainty.

3) Wouldn't they also be twins?

No because their genetic make-up is different as discussed above, and so they are no more than cousins.

It does NOT work that way, sorry to burst everyone's bubble. Life is diverse because of genetic recombination (crossing over), independent assortment (random chromosomes going to different sex cells), and meiosis. Though the 2 male indentical twins have the same DNA, this is the case because they were bron from the same UNITED sperm and egg. Same goes with the 2 female indentical twins. However, when the twins marry and have children, each twin will most likely have differently formed sex cells, and will thus have different gentic combinations that will combine to form a unique child. The boys will NOT have the same DNA as this is a mechanism built for human (as well as animal) survival. This design encourages adaptation / evolution.

They would simply be cousins.

They would not be brothers or twins.

I taught a boy and girl who described themselves as "genetic cousins". Their Mothers were identical twins, as were their fathers. Apart from both being very very clever, they were no more similar than other cousins.

In the formation of eggs & sperms (by meiosis), the genes and chromosomes are shuffled around. So, all eggs and sperm are (said to) genetically different. Therefore, all offspring (other than identical twins) will be genetically different.

The cousins would just have more genes in common than cousins normally do.

They would be called "double cousins" or even closer. They are more closely genetically related than regular cousins, but they would likely be considered less related than brothers.
Like most have said, they would be about as genetically similar as fraternal bothers. The only exception to this would be if the two sets of identicals were homozygous recessive for everything! And the odds of that are so small as to be.... well, just forget that chance.

That is like saying that if you have a brother or sister, they're going to be just like you isn't it???

Anyway, being sensible....I wouldn't have thought so. Taking the above into account, I personnally believe that not every single dna is identical even with twins. Otherwise surely the fingerprints...everything...would be identical. Hope i make sense!!! It sounds right in my brain (Doh!)

No they wouldn't.
Look up the law of independent segregation of DNA.

eg Alba and Alma marry Carlito and Sean
Alba QRS
Alma QRS
Carlito mno
Sean mno

on the formation of gametes
Alba's or Almas eggs will be either QR QS RS
Carlito and Seans sperm will be mn mo no

now as you can see there are quite a few possible combinations for either couple hence highly unlikely that the same combination would occur for both.

"cousin" isn't strictly scientific jargon, so their familial relationship is debatable.

now lets see if u can help me with mine.
my palm tx won't start up!
I have tried soft resetting, i have charged for 3 hours twice, i have tired other key apart from the on button...i have also left it to rest for 2 hours.
it still won't turn on.

i have also connected it the my pc and attempted to hot sync....but that didn't work either.

I need help.

A hard reset is my only option, and if that doesn't work i'll have to send it back because its barely 3 weeks old!

No, because every sperm and egg that the parents produce are slightly different from each other genetically.

During the process of meiosis (which produces sperm and egg) the DNA undergoes genetic recombination. No two sperm are exactly alike genetically. Same goes for eggs.

The cousins will be as similar to each other as siblings.

In quick summary: No, yes, and no.

The genetics is equivalent to the same couple having two baby boys (fraternal twins, or just two babies in different pregnancies).

So genetically, they would be the same as two brothers. But they would not have the same DNA, and would not also be twins.
