The ticketing booking at KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) is gone online now. KSRTC is the first State road transport corporation in Asia to introduce online booking of tickets. You can book any KSRTC book online now (similar to rail booking) http://www.ksrtc.in/

In Bangalore there are many shops which you can book bus tickets from. Its much cheaper than booking in advance from the here as you might change your mind on the date and you will also be charged middleman.

When you get there to book a bus it wont be a problem- there is a bus booking place on narly every street.

To get from Bangalore to Chennai (Madras) you are looking at 240 rupees (£3/$6) on an ordinary bus or 425 rupees (£5/$10) on a Volvo Air Conditioned bus which is the nicest bus available.

The journey takes 8 hours and there are 15 buses daily.

To Book tickets in Bangalore you can go to KSRTC (Devantha Plaza, Residency Road) or there are other places scattered around Bangalore. But there are lots of private bus companies which i mentioned above.

Anyway, i hope this helps.

You want to go to Chennai from Bangalore by Good Bus. Take KSRTC Volvo (Airavat) Service it will cost now Rs.500/- air conditioned and very convenient. Buses leave from 10.00 p.m. to 12.00 pm. and reach you at Chennai, Koyambedu by 5.00 am next morning.

If you want to travel at a lesser cost you can go by same KSRTC Rajhamsa Buses would cost about 225/- . You can have advance booking at KSRTC Bus counters available in all areas.

You can also go by Tamilnadu State Express buses which are equivalent to Rajhamsa.

Also available private operators buses KPN, Sharma, etc., and A.C Bus would cost Rs.600/=.-
