It all depends on what STYLE of RPG you prefer - open-ended (which Oblivion falls under), Action-based (think Dark Messiah), "Console" style (obviously the FF games), etc.
Personally, I have loved ALL of the games in the Elder Scrolls series (though by the time I got to play Arena - Elder Scrolls I - it looked VERY dated). This series allows you to play WHATEVER type of game/character you want to - fighting, stealing, spellcasting, resucing the "damsel in distress", or just killing innocent villagers...
Plus, the graphics are top notch - though it takes a powerful PC (or a 360) to pull off the FULL effect ;););)

Technically speaking, yes, it is one of the highest reviewed rpgs ever.
Personally, I think it is one of the best western-style rpgs ever made, next to baldur's gate 2, knights of the old republic, fallout, and neverwinter nights.
I believe that japanese rpgs are their own distinct subcatergory, thats why i didn't include stuff like final fatasy or dragon quest.

OBLIVION. its predecessor, Morrowind, had just about one hundred twenty+ hours well worth of purely quests in its GOTY version, and that i borrowed oblivion from a chum of mone for xbox 360. now if youre enjoying on laptop, its probably going to be approximately 6x extra advantageous, as you may get admission to patches and you're able to artwork its 'shape set' which surprisingly plenty facilitates you to make your person abode and any form of making you opt for, so in case you fairly needed, you're able to desire to maintain the pastime getting in case you by some skill make it by using each and all of the quests. and with the shivering isles boost (one in all hte expansions youre going to get in the GOTY version,) that on my own could upload a great sort of pastime time, so prepare to get hooked. via the way, dont pass the pastime up once you play the beginning up. the beginning up of any RPG is sluggish, as you opt for money to get admission to each thing you opt for, yet that isnt gonna be not easy on laptop, eh?

Yes, it is one of the best rpg's ever due to how much you can do like pick up pretty much any object, kill who ever you want, etc, and it's pretty realistic apart from the demons and it has one of the biggest maps. But if you dislike something from it like the fighting ( like me) then you should try Two Worlds.

yes, its awsome, there is only and only one thing lacking with the game, which is the spell effects.... i mean come on... when i cast spells i want to be awed by incredible blasts of fire or lightning pummeling my enemy..... not seeing a plain old fireball hit some stupid monster......
