i wouls say a cat easy to keep and take care of and horses and cats love each other i wouldn't get a goat or sheep because the tear things up but cats just lay on the horses back and my uncles horse was very lonely until we noticed that the horse would pick up some kind of food usually sugar cookies he loves them and disappear one day i followed him and i saw he was giving them to a cat the cat never leaves his side unless we take him out to ride then the cats gets its rest and when the cat now called cookie (named after what the horse was feeding her) sleeps on his back at night he watches her for a few minutes touches her with his nose then dozes off and he is very careful not to step on her but i think cats are perfect

i would say u should get him a goat or sheep. they keep good company and they arent hard to care for. altho goats can be real jerks. my friend had one that was terrible and when ever u were feeding the horses the goat would charge at u and head butt u which REALLY hurt. and u could never pet the evil little thing.if i were u than i would find a responsible little horse loving kid that lives on a farm to babysit ur mini while u go to work and then u know ur mini will have some1 to play with and plus then u wont have to pay the living expenses of another animal animal.and plus that will give your mini some soical experiences with other ppl and other farm animals

Since he is a mini, go with a smaller goat. They are fantastic companions for horses of all sizes. We had a mare that wouldn't get along with the rest of the horses, so we put her in the pasture with the goats. She does great now. When she runs, they try to keep up with her.

No one's suggested it yet, so I'm going with a long shot here...... what about another mini?
If you've already got one, how much more of a "financial burden" really is it take care of two? Regardless of what you get, a goat, a sheep, a donkey, they all still need feed, vaccines, and there can always be an emergency that arises. Donkeys still need their feet trimmed, and any living animal is a financial burden.

All equines need social interaction. They are herd animals. Your boy should be fine with you as his main source of company, but maybe a barn cat would be good. Cats and horses generally get along. My barn cats like the horses and they catch the mice in the new hay when it arrives. The horses do sometimes notice the cats. I have seen that single horses may enjoy a cat as a companion.
The only thing I would caution about a goat is that goats will sometimes eat poisinous plants that a horse would never touch. I like goats , but they do have the same needs for veterinary care and food, etc, that any other animal has.

i might pass with a mini! they require much less exercising than an entire-grown horse might. this could sound unusual...yet extremely some horses like having goats as companions. i do no longer understand no count if it incredibly is' legally available to you, yet their lots extra value-effective then horses and minis. in case you get a delightful one, its very almost like a sprint canines :)

Get a neutered, dehorned male pygmy goat (called a whether). Goats in general make great horse companions - but since yours is a mini - you'll need a pygmy goat.
Pygmy goats are fun pets, too.

you could get a donkey they are good companions and most horses like them! you could get a goat either as they would probably be cheaper than a donkey! also some horses may be scared of other animals so u should try them with an animal before you purchase 1 incase they dont like them!
good luck : )

I have heard the best thing next to another horse for a buddy is a goat.

get him a goat! they don't cost very much, and they don't need very much attention, just food and water. because you have a mini, you may want a billy goat or a smaller breed.
i got my orphan filly a goat when she was born to keep her company, and she absolutely loves him. the whole herd loves him. he is a great companion, and i hear of many other people getting their horses other farm animals for company.
