The Good and theTrue. Beauty may lie within the eye of the beholder, but there is always some external standard to which it is compared. Sometimes we are even compelled by a terrible beauty, as C.S. Lewis described it. Beauty moves far beyond simple feelings of pleasure.

What a broad question to ask and yet so important.
People everyday wonder why they aren't pretty enough, or handsome enough, or thin enough, or where ever they feel beauty lies or what it is. It's none of those things. From a personal standpoint I feel there is nothing more beautiful than a woman. Their lines, their features of softness, their bodies. If you have noticed there has been many portraits made of women, one in particular the Mona Lisa which has stood through time as one of the most famous paintings of all.
Even though that is my preference the real beauty lies within us. In our minds, our hearts, our souls. It's the beauty we portray to others, the kindness, the love, the commitments we make and keep, all these and many others is considered beauty. How we treat our fellow man, do we treat them as we want to be treated, this is beauty.
In short, beauty is as beauty does.

I think everything and everybody has the potential to be beautiful, however a hateful attitude and sour disposition can make even the most attractive person ugly.
