1995 Yamaha Wave Venture?
I'm interested in buying a jet ski, someone my dad knows is selling a 1995 Yamaha Wave Venture, it only has 44 hours of riding time. The guys always serviced it, and it looks brand new (i.e. routine oil changes stuff like that) He's asking 3,500 for it....is this a good deal? Or should we ask to come down on the price?

If it's a good friend, just talk to him and make hints about a lower price, but don't just come right out with it. He may lower it without you asking.

If it's not a good friend, it never hurts to haggle a little. Just remember people get offended when you say: I'll give you X amount of dollars. It's much better to say: would you take X number of dollars.

$3500 is probably not a bad price and 44 hours it's just broke in. It is still new.

Well, I not sure what size this is as far as engine. The cheapest "New" I found is a 2006 model and it is $6,500 and they go up to $12,000 depending on model and size. The one you looking at is almost 10 years older. BUT, if it clean and well maintained that is a plus. I always try to be fair with people and this may be a good deal for a good clean. If, it was a Rag then that be different. People deserve more for caring for their stuff, this how I see it. But, on the other hand, he may be fair too. So, we have to find a price he can feel comfortable with and still feel he not just give away what he has taken care of. I would be straight with the guy. If the battery up and strong and it runs good on the water (Test drive this for an hour) then it turn off and start easy, it may be a good deal, but, may ask if he be willing to go $3,000. He may say; "How about $3,200. Then I think everyone be happy.
Does it come with a trailer? This alone worth $300-500 I would assume. So, even if he stand firm on $3,500 with a trailer I would ho-hum and roll my eyes and figure it worth it.
You may find one for $2,000 but, what condition? Be working on it all the time instead of having fun?
Good luck, this about all I can say without seeing it and testing it out.

If the jetski is well maintained, looks good, and runs good (always ask for a test ride! If they say no, find something else.) 3500 for a Wave Venture that old seems to be a bit high when looking at a new one's prices. $2750 to $2950 would be a better price range for a well maintained Venture.

Good luck.

I don't care if the Pope owned it, and serviced it himself on Sunday, and gift wrapped it. This is what it's worth, your friend is in dream land, that price is WAY off. People think that just because "THEY" owned it, that it is worth MORE ! They need a reality check !

this is what it's worth
