steve nash by a lot. In basketball there aren't a lot of point guards that can control the flow of the game like Nash. Kidd is also extremely gifted at it, except he is pretty banged up and getting old. Nash is getting old as well but he is faster, more agile and a clutch shooter. Kidd is amazing at controling a game, but his shooting is quite average. Baron davis showed in the postseason that he is able to control a game as well, but Nash is consistently amazing, where davis comes and goes. A good point guard can hit clutch 3's (Nash) can shoot the mid range game (Nash), can penitrate the defense(Nash), can finish at the rim(Nash), can control the pace of the game(Nash), is a clutch free throw shooter(Nash), knows how to get people the ball where they like it(Nash), and can play defense... well okay you can't have everything. Nash all the way!

Baron Davis with his athletic ability to post up the smaller guards, faster then the bigger point guard, can dish the ball, play D, and hit a timely 3 for you. I don't get why people people keep saying Nash, he doesn't play any D whatsoever so that takes him out of the running for best poing guard. Also if Tony Parker, Jason Kidd, Deron Williams, etc.... Ran into Robert Horry's leg they wouldn't go flying. Steve Nash is not the best point guard in the league. By the way if Any other point guards had Diaw, Marion, and Stoudemire as a tandem too past too they would have blown Nash out of the water with the assists. Sorry but Nash is not the answer.

Jason Kidd
Man is a triple double threat every night
He can shoot the ball, he can drive, slash, make layup, run in transition, force the issue and put the defense on its heels and find open shooters and make things easier for his teammates
He lets his teammates get to their comfortable spots on the floor and delivers them the passes AT THE RIGHT TIME so that his teammates can get off their shot and score.
He has good court vision and recognizes mis matches very quickly and exploits it
Athletic players like Kenyon martin, jefferson, kerry kittles wouldn't have had any success if they were playing elsewhere...Kidd made them very successful in the nba. He gets to know his teammates and makes them comfortable in the offense
Oh he's the best rebounding Guard in the league....dude goes up there and battles for rebounds with 7 footers night in and night out and has plenty of success against them.
Oh yea he can play shut down defense too...too bad he has lost a half step in the past couple of years but he can still play strong defense...he moves his feet very well and puts his hands out on the passing lanes and disrupts opposing point guards.
He's a very good on the ball defender and opposing guards have to protect their dribble A lot when they're playing against Kidd. He has been like top 15 in steals like EVERY YEAR
Kidd helps out on defense too...he's usually the one coming in for double teams against post players because he's smart and knows where passes will be delivered out of the post...he rotates to open shooters, challenges every shot and makes sure his hand his over the face of anyone near him who's taking a shot.
Dude is a very strong courageous leader too and whenever his teammates make mistakes he encourages them and doesn't give up on them
He is the best point guard in the league today because he plays aggressively and has a lot of success playing with intensity ON BOTH SIDES OF THE COURT

Hear me out on this...
Technically, Wade is listed as a G. He plays both PG and SG positions on the floor, but he is so efficient in EVERYTHING else. To be 6'4, he averages close to the same amount of bpg as Amare! He picks you for at least 2 spg. He drops close to 8 dimes - and that's playing off the ball as well. He'll grab nearly 5 rpg as well as drop 27 ppg easily. I think you have the see the floor very well in order to be that efficient.
Other than that, I would give the nod to Nash. But Wade is a great floor general imo.
Honorable mention to Arenas (similar to Wade), and Kidd.

arguments for two sides:
i think nash is what defines a point guard...assist leader in consecutive seasons, which is what a PG does, passin out the dimes; but he also REDEFINES his position...just that there don't seem to be many other PG's now who follow him...he's a PURE 3-pt shooter (trip. overtime vs DAL), one of the top career free throw shooters ALL TIME; and he elevates the game, singling out the strong points of his teammates...ie..Amare, he dishes into the paint where STAT can dominate, Marion, streaks on the fast break to throw up a SICK alley-oop, Bell, finds him on the perimeter...Nash DOES have two-mvps...
BUT
Jason Kidd has made his position BETTER...and nash DID learn from Kidd in his first years with PHX...Kidd made his impact as soon as got drafted (Rookie of the Year, well Co-), later took the Nets to 2 back to back Finals, tho they lost...triple-doubles in the reg AND post seasons, third all time, Gold Medal in international play...he doesn't necessarily make him TEAM better...he does the most what is needed to win...he doesn't have a good supporting cast, tho...that's wut Nash has over him

Steve Nash. The should-have-been three-time MVP makes the difference for Phoenix from being another team to an elite contender.

Even though Stave Nash has won 2 MVP's, I have always considered Tony Parker to be better. Being an MVP is nice, but Tony Parker has RINGS!
