1.) I associate the name "Paris" with Paris Hilton. I bet it will have that connotation for a lot of other people.
2.) Lux is an interesting name, but I think she might get picked on a lot for it. It reminds me of a luxury edition car for some reason.
3.) Mary is at least a classic Biblical name, but it's so traditional that people may often associate it with older women they know named Mary. For some reason, it brings up thoughts of women in my grandmother's generation. It does have the positive of being easy to say and spell; it's probably the first female name people hear when they learn to speak English.
4.) I like the name Stephanie, but it was one of the most popular girls' names in the 1980's. When your daughter is growing up, it will feel like it belonged to the last generation. It would be kind of like a woman in her 20's with the name of Barbara, Kathy, or Susan (popular names in the 1950's).

EDIT: I'm not trying to hurt your feelings about the names. Still, I think it might be a good idea to at least consider what people are saying. If you think that Luxi is a good name, then go with that. She will have to spell the name out to everyone and explain how to pronounce it, but it's not the end of the world. :)

Maybe you could name her Alexis and then let her choose if she wants Luxi as a nickname? Or give her a more traditional middle name (like Elizabeth because it can be made into a lot of different nicknames) in case she dislikes the first name?

Paris...
I have a male friend named Paris. He's talented, smart and has a great personality. He also wrote for China Beach on TV. I don't think people should discriminate against the name Paris because of Paris Hilton. If someone has a unique name such as Paris and they know how to carry themselves, have a goal, and have confidence, then Paris can be such a beautiful name.

With Paris I picture someone attractive, beautiful, very clean, perfect, picky, intelligent, and most likely of middle, upper class.

Lux is very exotic and it reminds me of Vegas for some odd reason. It sounds like a party name, sort of heiress, heir name.

I don't like Mary; it is too common. But it is well known that Marys are usually humble, normal, work hard, and very smart.

Stephanie is very common too.

I'd say go with Paris or Lux, if you're changing your name or will have to name your daughter.

1. It sound expensive, rich. But I don't like Paris Hilton, so I would say no.
2. It is different, sounds like a cat name.
3. Very plain, old fashioned kind of name.
4. Girl next door, plays baseball with the boys.

If this were my list and I had to choose, probably Stephanie or Mary.

I actually like Paris. Just becaues a hollywood brat has the name doesn't make the name ugly. In Troy the younger prince was named Paris. (He was a disgusting character too but it goes to show that the name is at least proper)

If you like odd but classy names, you should take a look through history and the Bible.

I don't like Stephanie at all it's too normal. And I'm ify on Mary. If Mary was more popular now days I'd hate it.

1. Paris - Spoiled little daddy's girl with no life.
2. Lux - Hmmm... not really sure. Can't say I like it, can't say I don't like it.
3. Mary - Older name but good reserve.
4. Stephanie - I had a bad situation with a Stephanie so I personally don't care for the name.

i only like Mary.. and this is why

one, PLEASE dont name your daughter Paris... one of those in the world is TOO much as it is

two, Lux i used to think was neat until i realized every 'lux' i know was an artsy stick figure type who likes wierd paintings and wierd music

and three, Stephanie just feels a little too 80's for me. Probably b/c of Full House :)

any name from the Bible (ie: Mary) is gonna stand the test of time.. i'd pick it and put it together with another modern name.
