Yes - unfortunately the myth of dirty old man is a myth as the media coverage shows.. doesn't matter is they are doctor, judge, lawyer, MP, or even on occasion female...

They are all ages and all professions.

That is why I take no chances with my daughter - extreme maybe but as the perverts do not come with a label on their forehead and it is impossible to even truly know someone's sexual thoughts/persuasions (even a spouse) then I would rather be overly careful than overly trusting.

These days I think the problem is exacerbated by porn in that the nature of the genre is upping the ante and therefore people/feelings/decency often get forgotten.

Paedophillia is a cancer in our society and I just wish that those perpetrating these crimes would be locked away for life - their life. No parole - nowt but given that there are a percentage in all professions who have been convicted it leaves one with little hope with perverts sometimes sentencing perverts.

I know a couple of friends who slept with their 15 year old girlfriends when they were 18 and 19 respectively so they are technically paedophiles. I don't think they should be put in the same category as those evil bastards who rape and abuse toddlers though.

I don't think we all do but I agree with whoever said you tend to get clusters in some professions. The public, rightly, loathes paedophiles and the Press give prominence to every paedophile offence. I don't really think it's as common as people fear.

Well not necessarily in your family or workplace, but the more people you know the more likely.
I think it clusters in some families.
Some jobs may be more attractive to paedophiles.

Good question. Hopefully not but i guess quite a few people must have met a Paedophile in their life & maybe not realised it. Unfortunately they do not stand out from other people.

I dont think so, however I am pretty sure we all know someone who has been abused as a child, (although we might not be aware of it) so therefore unless its all the same person then that must be the case that we at least know someone who is (albeit they may not be as close as family, or workmates), which is a horrible thought.

God I sincerely hope not or I would become paranoid around everyone as a mother with 4 children. If I knew though i would not hold back and if I thought they were a danger then I would not even give it a 2nd thought and report them (no matter how close to me they were) When I gave birth to my children i swore that I would kill for them or do time - animal instinct I suppose

There is a reasonable chance but I think that's fairly low (I'm not aware of the per capita ratio is for pedophiles).

Paedophiles... I'm not sure what they are, much less if they exist.

I do not think it is as common as that. Yes many of us might have realise, a paedophile who becomes known as one was known as a person among our acquaintance's . That is likely . All ? certainly not.
