The "What not to feed" list is much longer than the "What can i feed list, " so here is a list of what you CAN feed a 6 month old. Stick to the list and you should be fine....LOL

1.) Formula
2,) Baby rice cereal
3.) Baby applesauce
4.) Baby banana's
5.) Baby greenbeans

Keep in mind that a 6 month old will get most of his nitrients from the formula/breastmilk.

Here is also a list of food to especially aviod:
1.)Eggs (especially the whites) may cause an allergic reaction, especially if given too early. Citrus is highly acidic and can cause painful diaper rashes for a baby. Honey may contain certain spores that, while harmless to adults, can cause botulism in babies. Regular cow's milk does not have the nutrition that infants need.

2.)Fish and seafood, peanuts and peanut butter, and tree nuts are also considered allergenic for infants, and shouldn't be given until after the child is 2 or 3 years old, depending on whether the child is at higher risk for developing food allergies. A child is at higher risk for food allergies if one or more close family members have allergies or allergy-related conditions, like food allergies, eczema, or asthma.

Corn, meats, peanuts, citrus, pineapple, tomatoes, processed foods, salted foods, berries, coffee (lol, seriously some people have asked about that), any liquids other than 100% juice and no more than an ounce or two a day, halved with boiled water...

Pretty much stick with "mild" fruits and vegetables, and oatmeal and rice. And no need to mash or puree the foods either. As long as it is soft baby-bite sized chunks, your baby can manage it. Just supervise, and she'll be fine, and probably enjoy it because it has texture to it!

My babies doc said to start with veg and water so that she will eat them. then fruit because you don't want her to only want sweet foods that why you start with veg. and water. do not start with mixed foods and meats because the baby needs to taste all the foods for at least 3 days so you know what he/she will have a reaction to. And meat will cause gas.
P.S my baby girl is 8 months now and she loves water, green beans, peas and so on. most people I know always have a problem with getting there baby to drink water b/c they put sugar in it so the baby will drink it. That is why you start with veg and water in a bottle so the baby will not be hooked on sweets.

Six months the teeth haven't began to develop yet. STAY AWAY from solids and greasy foods and sweets especially honey it could cause hospitalization. Then to if you aren't sure you shouldn't be asking people on yahoo answers ask your primary physician or doctor or pediatrician. Dont you watch E.R. (lol) no but seriously ask your doctor.

Bones, dry food, you can feed him mashed potatoes, carrots, spaghetti, just about anything that is mashed, i like to give my son different foods so he wont be picky. Then after dinner give him a gerber fruit, then his milk, that way he can stay full.
