Barnes & Noble stores will accept the gift cards at any of their departments including the cafe. Their are some possible exceptions. Since some cafes are not Barnes & Noble cafes but actually owned and operated by Starbucks they don't accept the gift cards.

You will be able to tell fairly quickly if it is a Barnes & Noble or a Starbucks cafe. Starbucks cafe's will have a separate entrance into the cafe where a Barnes & Noble cafe won't. Also Barnes & Noble ads in the cafe say Barnes & Noble, and the Starbucks cafes will look more like other Starbucks cafes and differentiate themselves from the BN ones.

Don't be afraid to ask, it happens all the time. Chances are it is a BN cafe and they will gladly take your gift card. Enjoy! And if you havn't tried it yet the Rasberry Mocha is quite good.

Probably you can, but ask first and make sure you have another way to pay for what you buy at the cafe, just in case they don't accept the gift cards.

Nope (at least not in mine); you'd have to have a cafe gift card for that: the Barnes & Noble gift cards are just for the stores.

I think you can if their cafe is not a starbucks (some have starbucks) but the best way to know is to call the particular barnes and noble that you will be going to and ask

I've tried doing that before, and they didn't accept it. I'm not sure why, maybe it's because their cafe is related to Starbucks or something? I'd definitely agree with the other people that say to ask (you can ask at customer service if you don't want to ask the cafe cashier).
