I took a gun from a drunk once.

I felt fast and he looked slow.

I shudder thinking about it.

Fine line between courage and stupidity.

Recently helped rescue a Thoroughbred racehorse from owners who were racing him - the horse had suffered from laminitis, the ailment that ultimately killed the great Barbaro - with little regard to his past or current severe health issues.

It seemed to be a case of racing him until he had nothing left in his legs or heart. He is now in retirement on a farm in Kentucky and may be shuttled up to Ohio, about 30 minutes or so from where I live.

I found there were a few great people who stepped up when I was able to editorialize on this situation, but it made me angry that in other quarters - people with vast influence in the industry - there was nothing but silence.

The sorry treatment of many of these majestic racers is a major issue that those who run the industry do not want people to know about; but it will come to light one day.

Controlling my fear of heights- went through a training coarse with the SC department of corrections (SORT) and we had to climb a 50 foot pole and then jump about 5 feet to a trapeze and then climb to height of about 75 high and walk over tree trunk a distance of about 50 feet and then rappel down a rope.

i have saved my dad from drowning in the lake ....

this is on a vacation in 2003 ... in Barrie, Canada... there are many lakes there and once we went for a swim.. we were with other families.. me and my friend were swiming back and forth across the lake.. getting to the other side takes about 10 mins... so my dad decided to come to the other side when we told him that the view there was amazing.... so with out warming up.. no life jacket.. (on any of us really <.<) he jumped with us in the lake and started to swim.. we were three good swimmers and i was a licenced life guard at the Canadian Lifesaving Society... so about half way, my dad started saying that he is becoming tired.. and i told him to just calm down,, slow down and take regular deep breaths.... but after a while he started splashing the water, because his legs gave out... and my friend was scared and frozen not knowning what to do... with no second thoughts i came closer to him and told him to calm down.... (breaking the rule of life saving which is to approach slowly with leg stretched out to face the person) but that was my father.. so .... he told me to get back as we both could drown.. i refused and got closer... then took a deep breath and went under water, under my father (do not do this if you are a taking the life guard test.. you will fail)...and pushed him up from under to help him rest abit .... then as i was taught, i told him to just not move at all, lie on his back,, and i held on his chin with both hands,, while underhim... (note..my body was under him but my head is out of the water...faces looking up) and i pulled him to shore.. which exausted me, but that is how it happened .. never forgot that day....
