All set to leave for the weekend, went downstairs to feed the cats, heard water running, went to the utility room to find the contents of the water heater all over the floor! Only bright spot is that it's below the level of the rest of the house!

No, I'm not repairing it myself. Plumbers will be here soon. I hate losing all the stuff we had stored down there, though!

Well, I've gotten this beaten! I pack upstairs in my bedroom. Out of the room, I act completely normal, nonchalant. I waltz by the kitchen appliances as though I were staying in town. I visit the basement and never once glance at the oil tank level. I do not tell my car. Anything.

With practice, you'll become a masterful actor and the appliances will suspect nothing.

It just happened to me but mine exploded all over the garage flooding it. Unfortunately, we had bags of cement and newly purchased supplies for our next home improvement project all of which were ruined. Good thing I keep the dog food bag in a large plastic container! Worse yet, we discovered it on Sunday night and had no idea how long it was leaking. But, we only had to go without hot water for one day until the contractor installed the new one. Also, the old water heater was just out of warranty...

It is so common for that to happen. I work for a plumbing company and you wouldn't believe the number of calls for service we receive and the customer is just about to leave on vacation or they are hosting a party, etc. It's a terrible feeling! Good Luck!

Oh yeah I hate that!! Just about everytime we leave for vacation or are having a big get together at my house something breaks. Sometimes it is just something minor, and sometimes, its something expensive. The cost of owning your own home sucks sometimes huh?
