The problem is that, after installing an AGP video card, it wasn't detected automatically by the system. I'll need to disable the integrated card in BIOS but I don't have a display to work with.

Just connect the graphics card to the monitor and make sure to check connections again. You might need to configure jumper on some main board. Refer to user's manual of the main board on how to disable integrated/on-board display.

if it is integrated you cannot replace it. however you can go to the bios setup and disable it. than if you have PCI or an AGP slot on your motherboard you can buy a VGA card for it and it will work perfectly.

I think you disable the integrated video with a jumper on the mother board. Open up the case and check the labels on all the jumpers very carefully.

Even with your onboard video enabled. if your AGP card is seated good(sometimes it appears seated but isnt in all the way.) you should be able to get something on your monitor when you fire your puter up) Make sure your monitor is hooked up to your AGP card.
