It's all over the world now. I live in the US and it's very bad here too. There are actually places where you can't smoke outside in the open air !!! Eventually it will be illegal and a new black market will emerge like the alcohol business during prohibition. It will start a whole new organized crime industry.

I'm sorry that you weren't fired. It is perfectly fine to smoke if you are only harming or killing yourself, but when you smoke in an area where others can breathe the fumes, you are harming and killing others.
Think about the other people you are annoying, harming, and killing with your secondhand smoke, and be more considerate of others. You are no better than someone who walks up to someone and punches them in the face. Your right to smoke ends at the point where the smoke reaches someone else's nose (or clothing). You not only should have been fired, you belong in a prison (and one where no smoking is allowed). One day when the laws improve, this is what will happen to you.

It must be your company's policy disallowing employees to smoke at their workplace. Why did you break the rules. Quit smoking! You are giving out second smoke to your colleagues who don't smoke and you are very selfish for doing that. You said you are sick of the smoking ban. Why didn't you think what other think about you, aren't they also sick of you for smoking?

Smoking bans are a restriction of your right to enjoy in the short run giving yourself cancer or emphysema in the long run. If you paid all your own medical bills 100%, nobody who did not actually love you would care. Since Her Majesty's Government is actually paying your bills out of tax revenues, the people have the right to make this behavior as inconvenient for you and as harmless to themselves as possible.
Maybe it is time for you to quit?

I agree with you. I live in Texas but our city just passed a stronger smoking ban. At least we can still smoke in bars. In November my employer is making the place totally smoke free. You know we smoke in remote corners well away from anyone else, but they still complain. There are many places for non smokers to be away from smokers but fewer and fewer places for us to stay away from non smokers.

Sorry to hear about your habit.
Maybe you should take the ban as something to wean you off the stinky things.
That would be the bright side, you know.

Your company could save a lot of health care costs by terminating your employment.
