was proud of my Black Belt...and was still proud after the fall too, because all the training for the belt taught me how to fall in a manner to reduce the fall's damage...then I was proud of the way I fell....
strange as it may seem I am really very humble

Actually, pride goes before destruction
and a haughty spirit goes before a fall....
I was haughty about my new 5 inch Italian stiletto heels right before the fall.......

Darn it! That's what I was going to quote before I saw your details!
"Pride" suggests to me self-righteousness, even a faulty estimate of one's own virtues. Consider the synonyms: Boast, brag, crow, gloat. strut, vaunt. A few steps further--conceit, egotism, vanity.
You won't be surprised that I've never fallen.
Edit: Best not to confuse value, satisfaction or accomplishment with PRIDE....

My good health and independence; now I have a chronic and debilitating illness, and I'm forced to depend on others to help me with a lot that I used to do for myself. Sometimes it really sucks, but most times I'm grateful for the help.
