I say Boston. Look how long they held out for a World Series win. The city never gave up on their team even through the really bad years....and there were many of them! :)

I grew up in New York and lived in Boston for 6 years so I have some first hand experience.
Just by shear numbers, I'd have to say New York. But also in intensity.
In football, the Patriot fans are all front-runners. Before they started winning Super Bowls, there were probably more NY Giants fans in New England than Patriots fans.
Hockey fans are too looney to compare. There go nuts everywhere but are too few to care about.
In basketball - damn it's too depressing to talk about anything having to do with the Knicks. But when the Celtics were winning 11 championships with Bill Russell, the Bruins still had more fans. It's a Hockey town in the winter.
As for baseball - no contest. There are still diehard NY Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers fans in New York and the teams left 50 years ago! Mets fans - they were rabid when the team was losing 120 games a year.
Yankees fans vs Red Sox fans - fugedaboutit. I was back in NY at a high school reunion in last summer. I had one conversation with a friend I hadn't seen in years and he talked about a traumatic event. "I couldn't believe it was happening. It was the most horrific thing I've even lived through. I don't think life can ever be the same since that." He was taking about 9/11, right? NO, he was talking about when Boston beat the Yankees in the 2004 ALCS.
I heard several conversations like that but not a single one regarding 9/11. Amazing!

New York City isn't even the best sports town in New York State! ... Buffalo and Syracuse have that title! You haven't seen basketball until you've been to the dome! Sabers fans are better hockey fans than any of the other NY area teams'.. Bills fans.. come on.. they get a swift kick in the balls every year... and still keep comin year in and year out!
It has to be Boston by a mile.. .nah.. Boston by a fathom... nah Boston by a light year!
Carlton Fisk says that Boston fans yell at yah and the boo birds are always out and in NY everyone is too messed up on drugs.
you can't get a ticket in Boston for anything the day of or even the month before....
NY you can.
yo they put seats on top of the monster so there would be more tickets in 99... there were legions of sox fans for every era... since kraft bought the pats we have turned onto that excellent product... and we always go out to see the celts and the b's even if they suck for the moment...
ranger fans are cops... Yankees fans lack baseball knowledge...
Red Sox will have the mlb record half way next season for most consecutive sell outs... Cleveland has the record right now.. its like 3 years...
in fact Detroit, Cleveland and Philly are better sports towns than Ny too.. NY is a money town.. financial capitol of the world... but Boston is a city of tradition... Boston is hands down king!

Neither...Yankee fans hid their heads in the late 80's. Boston was the same way. These days they are coming out of the woodwork. The Knicks and Celtics fans are pretty strong but ask the question when one of teams go 4-12 or 58-104.

Well, I'm a Mets fan, so I've had one world championship that I was old enough to see. I'm a Jets fan so I've had none there. same with my Knicks. And just one for my Rangers. But I will never give up on any of my teams, even if they never win one for me. If I'm a typical NY fan, I'd say we win the contest.
Yankee fans don't count.

Depends how your judging. Numbers wise its Yankees fans. Dedicated you have to give credit to boston fans for hanging in there. However I can't feel bad for Boston fans when they have the most basketball rings. It's easier for Boston to sell out every game. They have a big market and one of the smallest stadiums, it seats roughly 35,000. Yankee stadium holds approx 55,000. Knowledgeable would be yankee fans, they've seen better baseball over the years. Respectful: Yankee fans never jump into the bullpen to start fights.

the New York Mets has more dedicated fans than any other teams. whether they lose or win, the fans cheer them loudly and sometimes curtain calls and standing ovation. last year it was Mets vs Cardinals in the game 7 of the NL Championship at Shea Stadium and Mets lost but the fans cheered 'cause they made it this far. even though they lost, Endy Chavez got two curtain calls from his amazing catch. Mets fans goes to other cities to see their team play. Mets fans are royal fans. LETS GO METS!!!

NY - there's only one and Boston WISHES they had a team like ours.
Having said that - an honorable mention goes to San Diego that the distinction of having 2 half *** teams that they are ABSOLUTELY nuts about - The Padres who get close every year to the championship and choke. And the Pop Warner football team the Chargers - who simply cannot seem to play a winning season.
Yeah - I live in San Diego now but I'm a Bronx Girl - GO YANKEES!!!!!!!!!

Boston. When the Patriots won a Superbowl a chant of Yankees suck broke out. What's that tell you about the city.

There is no doubt that the NY fans are far superior to any sports city in the world.
Not only are they loyal (win or lose) but they always wear their logos. unlike Red Sox fans that needed to dust them off after 76 yrs of losing and have been wearing them now for three years.
Its time to put your logo wear away for another 73 yrs Boston fans.
