Being unique and not having to copy or be like anyone else

The best thing about being me is that I get a great deal of satisfaction out of doing small, insignificant things. For example, it really makes me smile when I finish cleaning a room in the house. Or when I bought some cushions on the cheap and they suited the room they were bought for perfectly. Or when I know I get to lie in with my boyfriend for a few hours and we have nothing to do except potter around for the whole day - eg, some Saturdays when he's not at work. Or spending an evening with my girl friends, getting drunk on cheap wine because we got it for free for someone's birthday. Stepping out in public when I know that for once in my life, I look pretty damn good because I've made the effort.

Sounds superficial, but it's actually not. It's just taking pleasure in small things that I can contribute to instead of getting overwhelmed at my inability to change the bigger things.
