Paxil is a psychotropic which is in no way related to the vitamin supplement family. Whatever you finally decide, it is important that you titrate the Paxil gradually down as you titrate the supplement gradually up. I get that you want to go more wholesome and if you have any respect for your doctor and he actually gives a **** about you then talk to him about what you want to do and if he doesn't want to help ask if he can make a referral. You can achieve the freedom you seek and it would be much easier if you could do it with some professional help as you go. No point in hurting yourself while in the process of trying to feel better.

I was on anti-depressants for over 20 years and I am sure that I tried every anti-depressant on the market . . . Paxil, Wellbutrin, Zolfot, Celexa, & Prozac to name a few. They would work for awhile, have disgusting side effects, and then quit working so I would have to try another one. I tried every "natural" product I could find, including St. John's Wort and never found any relief. Then I began taking Mangosteen Juice for relief from chronic pain & migraine headaches. After I had been taking the juice with great results, I found I was also able to slowly wean off of a 300mg daily dose of Wellbutrin. Go to http://www.mangosteenstories.org/ to read what experiences that others have had and http://www.thewholefruit.com/ if you want to learn about the science behind it. It is WELL worth the research! Feel free to email me with any questions you may have. I wish you the very best and applaud your interest in "alternatives to prescription drugs!"

I'm glad to hear you want to get off of Paxil. We keep finding out that the SSRI's have more and more risks.

I knew a man who was taking care of his elderly parents and doted on them. One month after he was put on Paxil, he shot and killed both of his parents, another person and himself.

This occurred in Panama City, Florida in early 2000.

It turns out that almost perpetrator of every big school shooting was on an SSRI. In those cases, it appears that the drugs cause hallucanitory (sp?) ideasm, and blackouts.

5-HTP is another seratonin producer. With natural products, it often takes more time to feel it working than with drugs.

Some people respond in a day or two but for others it could take a month or two.

Good luck and be well.

It is available at a cellular level and is able to pass thru the blood-brain barrier which allows for a 95-98% absorption rate compared to only a 7-10% absorption rate when taking hard composite pills.
