i think that this is simply retarded...you dont want others to call you that but why do you call each other that...i think with the whole "burial" of the word, you would be happy, like i know it's not going to stop anyone from using but still...my opinion is if you can call yourself that it's ok for someone else to call you that. Personally i think NO ONE should call anyone that...comments?

I agree with you.Black people complained about what Michael Richards said, but they call eachother that all the time.It doesn't make any sense to me.

I've never used that word in my life, and anyone who uses it around me is very swiftly corrected.
Furthermore, I don't tolerate even a black person using that word around me. But I can understand their argument on why they can say it. I know females who are good friends that will call each other the b word, like "b why didn't you call me?" But if a guy were to call them that then they would have a problem.
To me the n world is steeped in hatred no matter if black people have so called "taken the word back." Its origins are enough for me to not use it, ever. Even when black people first began to call each other that, it was not used in an endearing way, that didn't happen until around the 80s. But in all reality the n word is really no different than the b or h word, and I don't want to be called anything derogatory, no matter how it is used.

while i understand the use of the word casually between black people, things like music, movies and other influential media (BET) also uses it casually, and the people that consume these get the wrong impression of things - that the word is free. like white kids that use the word amongst themselves because they think thats cool or funny.
in my opinion the word is not free, it still causes anxiety, even when not used as a slur, especially by non-blacks, especially by whites.

Whining about that is just another way the n'S can use their racial privilege to destroy careers and terrorize the rest of us. Attempting to extenuate their "suffering" may be the only way some of them can think of to maintain their ethnic distinction. Sad for them, uncomfortable and risky for the rest of us. Once people stoop to that, they've identified themselves as low class and your best move is to distance trom them as far as possible. Ultimately, for people of quality class distinction is all about manners and never about color.
