Hmm, if you are wondering even whether to charge, maybe just keep track of the time you spend and report that? You might say that you were happy to do it without charge but that $5 to $10 an hour would be fine if he feels he must pay?
Then if he insists on paying, you could use part of the money to have something to put in the collection box. I don't know the pastor but sometimes maybe they really mean it when they say to invoice them...

The question here is, is the pastor doing this for the church or for his own personal profit. If is for the church and the people will benefit then don't charge him, but if it for him personally and he will sell it and make money for himself, I would definitely charge him. The amount to charge would depend on the number of hours it took you to do it and what others charge to do the same work would charge. Make some calls to other people in your area to determine the going rate.

Call a professional in the area and find out what the going rate is. You then need to make a decision, do you need the money, which is ok, or could you make it your donation to the church. That way, you could feel better about not charging money but you could write it off on your taxes as donating to charity. However, if it is for the pastor's personal use, you'd have to check w/a tax advisor to see if it is still a tax write off. If you need the money but feel awkward charging him for this private endeavor of his, discount the price a bit. He expects to pay for your service so don't feel that you need to make it free.

I wouldn't charge him. You can't outgive God. God will bless you if you help his church. If they don't pay you, they can use the money to further ministry. Consider this your gift, your tithe. Besides, if you charge him, a little part of him and other church members will think you are chicken/cheap. If you REALLY need the money, do it. But it's best if you don't have to.

There could be two ways of going about this....you could just not say anything and let him decide and give what he thinks is fair, but if he skips out you will be starring him down like a dirty dog every Sunday...or You could just give a small bill, you know with a discount or something.....Check non-professional rates and you be the judge.....Is this a one time service?...Just think about those things.
