Basketball - You'll build more endurance (from running). But you have to take care of your body. Drink plenty of water and be easy on the knees and ankles. Also, be ready to be aggressive. It's also a good sport if you like to play at a gym or indoors.
Softball - might also work. It's a lot of fun, but very mellow. Depending on what part of the country you are, make sure you don't dehydrate. It's easy to ignore thirst when you're having fun outdoors in the sun.
Volleyball - might also work. Lots of jumping. It's also a good team building sport since you have you're own area to cover and you guys rotate and cover a different area . . . etc.
Bottom line is, think about what your capabilities are and what do you want to learn out of the sport you choose. Also, think about if you like to play outside (softball) or indoors (volleyball or basketball). Do you want to play with agressive people with lots of bumping (like in basketball), or do you want to play as a team (like in volleyball or softball).

I have played softball for twelve years and I love it. Of course I would advise you to pick it. It keeps you in shape and you can pretty much play all year depending on where you live.

Volleyball - with the rotation of players and a more full JV schedule, all players - no matter of their abilities - have opportunities to play in matches.
