Put down a piece of cheese. Sit by it and make a sound of a horny female rat. Then when the males are coming you whack them with a baseball bat.

I've tried traps too and the little beggars are just too clever, only ever caught one in a trap.
Persist with the poison. Find their run entrances, put the poison in old crisp packets (they love the salt) and place the pack down the run a little way so it blocks the hole - pack top facing down the hole. Remember to wear gloves!!
Hopefully you will find the empty pack back out in the garden. Keep on doing it until the crisp packet stays put.
After a time more rats will move into the runs so it is an ongoing fight I am afraid.
Good luck.

There is a product made by a firm called Victor. It is a sticky trap that is impregnated with peanut butter. As the rat starts to feed it's head will become attached to the sticky trap and the more it strugles the more it sticks to the trap. I own a Garden Centre and we sell loads of these traps. Be carefull though if they stick to you they will take your skin off.

Yikes, and I thought gophers were bad !!
We tried traps, poisons, baits, etc... then my lil brother got a cat. "Digby" comes home each evening with a gift of gopher !! And Digby doesn't tear up the yard/garden like the dogs do !!
Of course, the gophers won't venture into an area where the dogs are penned (it's 30 x 60 feet, so don't start screaming "animal cruelty" PETA pholks).
And yes, we also use air-rifles on the weekend... but gophers are sneaky lil buggers... the shotgun works best... fortunately he's on a 25 acre ranch

without figuring out to purchase a humane seize, catching them would be not easy. yet you realize what you're able to desire to objective which would be unfastened? do you realize every person with puppy rats, or have a puppy keep close to you? if so, ask if next time they sparkling out they are in a position to maintain you particularly used clutter (would not could desire to be grimy, merely used, so it could have the different rats fragrance) placed it in the corners of the room, and on the fringe of the place you think they arrive in. in the event that they scent that that's "yet another rats territory" this could motivate them to stay away.
