As a Yankee fan, I would say Carl Pavano. He has spent more time on the disabled list then in the dugout and been a total waste. The Yankees won't get anything close to a decent return for the money invested in him.

There are a whole bunch of players not even playing and getting paid for their contract.
Baseball has guaranteed contracts so if you are cut or injured and are not playing for your team. You still make the money. These players are the biggest waste because they offer zero assistances to their respective team but they are still on salary.

Richie Sexson from the Seattle Mariners (First Base) Is making 14 million dollars a year, and this year he has a season batting average of .208 and his ops was over .800 only ONE MONTH!!! The biggest joke is, he was claimed on waivers, and pulled back. Even to unload the salary would be good, let alone to get a minor leaguer or even a utility man... Come on, Bill Bavasi, youre a freaking idiot

Matt Morris' deal with the Pirates. Why would they trade for this guy? In the best case, he'll be an overpriced league average pitcher who helps them win an extra game or two over one of their young guys. But even then, they're not going anywhere for a while. The Pirates need to figure out which of these young guys are going to be stars and which are not, and using a rotation slot on a guy like Morris makes it harder for them to do that. They have a bunch of young guys who could end up being good enough to bring them back into contention, but not if they keep making moves like this.

I have hopes for Jason Schmidt in the future, but right now he is the biggest waste of money. Why do Dodger GM's keep signing people who are prone to injury?

Live in NE Ohio and the acquisition of Trot Nixon was a complete waste of time and money for Cleveland. He did not add another stick to an outfield platoon system & his only accurate throws is when he throws pies in the faces of teammates during interviews after games.

Alex Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, Jason Giambi, Derek Jeter, Bobby Abreu, and Joreg Posada. Notice all Yankees. Overpaid, over hyped, and look what happens they won't even make the playoffs!

I'd go with Pavano. Anyone on the field is providing at least nominal value for their paycheck. Pavano provides nothing, not even amusing excuses. It's almost sad.

JD Drew.
I had low expectations for him and he has dropped below even those expectations.
I thought the worst case scenario was going to be an injury, but now I am just praying he gets hurt.
