No, the tampon will not fall out. Your vaginal muscles should be strong enough to hold it in, even when you're completely relaxed. And, no, you shouldn't practice with one in if you're not menstruating as wearing a tampon when you are not menstruating increases your risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).
You could practice putting a few in, so long as you don't leave them in. Use a small amount of lube (whether something like a few drips of KY jelly or a tiny dab of Vaseline) on the tip of the applicator; angle the tampon when you're inserting it towards your lower back. You might find it easier to insert it sitting or standing, or with your leg up on something (just depending on your, so experiment with different positions). Push the entire first part of the applicator into your vagina, and then push the plunger while simultaneously pulling the applicator out of your vagina. Do this slowly until you get the hang of it.
There are also "teen fit", "slim-fit", "junior tampons", etc., that are smaller for younger teens or for some women who have a shallower vagina. You could try practicing inserting them with these, but I would recommend a better tampon like the Playtex Sport tampons or Tampax Pearl, which have better protection, for when you actually are swimming.
It might be a bit difficult at first, but you'll get the hang out of :) Any tampon box will have detailed instructions with helpful pictures, so be sure to look at that too when you buy a box.

Don't worry! Using a tampon is simple if you want to do that. It might hurt a little bit the first time, but just go buy some (or if you're really shy like I was at that age, buy one for 25 cents in the bathroom at a store, LOL) and read the directions. It's very, very simple.
You can do yourself a favor and read a little bit about how to predict your next period, if you're regular. That's very easy too.
I promise, jumping hard into the water will never, never make your tampon come out. Nothing will do that except two things: you pull it out yourself or it gets so full that it BEGINS to come out itself (rare!).
You CAN practice with a tampon before you're bleeding. Just make sure you're not too dried out for that, and practice with a smaller one.
If you have a heavy flow and/or are really scared, go for the jumbo-sized tampons. They're good for quite a few hours. But don't use that through your whole period, just when you really need it.
Don't worry...buy the tampons, read the instructions, practice a little bit, then go swim!!
P.S. I didn't mean, by the way, that you should use a tampon when you're not having your period--what I meant was that you can practice putting it in without your period, but definitely don't walk around with a tampon in when you don't need it. :)

Have you used tampons before? Do you have someone you can talk to about using them? Tampons are compacted cotton used internally to absorb the clots and blood from your period. If you don't have a lot of experience with them, I highly recommend that you purchase a box of tampons with plastic applicators. The plastic appilactor has a rounded end and will make things go easier for you (and your vagina) since you may be inexperienced. Follow the directions on the package--it's pretty simple and directly laid out for you. Some of them even have diagrams! If you've never used them before it might take some practice getting it in. The most important thing to do it relax and do some deep breathing. Don't worry. It will probaby be easy to insert. If not, don't hurt yourself and stress over it. Bring both tampons and pads and if you can't get the tampon in, wear a pad and some shorts. It's not the end of the world, I assure you. And don't worry about the tampon absorbing water or falling out. Your vaginal muscles hold it in place naturally. Leave it in for 4-6 hours, then change it. Have fun on vacation!

Just use a tampon, when inserted correctly you can't feel them. The vaginal muscles will hold the tampon in place so whether you're doing hard dives off the diving board or freestyle swimming as fast as you can - there is no way your tampon will fall out. Since you're a beginner, I also recommend you get Playtex SlimFit tampons. They are slender and smaller than normal tampons and they have a plastic applicater for easier insertion.
As for putting in a tampon, this is how you put them in. There are 2 parts of the tampon. There is a bigger tube and a skinny tube. The bigger tube is the part of the applicater that will go inside of your vagina. (Don't worry: it may seem big, but it really isn't!). So unwrap your tampon and then hold the applicater with your dominant hand. Use your free hand to seperate the lips/labia of the vulva. Grab the finger-grips with your thumb and middle finger. Ease the tampon into your vagina while angling it towards your bottom. Most people don't know this but the vagina actually lies flat and it doesn't go up. Continue angling your tampon and pushing it in towards your tailbone until the finger-grips are right outside of your vagina and the bigger tube is completely inside of you. Then with your index/pointer finger push the skinny tube into the bigger tube which is already inside of you. Once the skinny tube is all the way in then you pull the applicater out with the finger-grips and toss it in the trash. The string will be left hanging outside of your body, so just tuck that into your bikini to avoid embarassment. Then as soon as you get out of the pool put in a fresh tampon because the string will soak up the chlorinated water from the pool and it will go up to your tampon and soak it up, too! Good luck with Swim!

Well, you can definitely not swim with a pad, so if you really want to join, you're going to have to figure out how to use a tampon. There's no way around it. Try figuring it out this year and next year join the swim team.

You will have to try a tampon, because you should not swim without a tampon on while having your period.
It will not fall out from the pressure.

Try the OB tampons they don't come with a applicator you just guide it in with your finger so you can determine what feels comfortable.I switched to them, I like them because they are discreet because of no applicator. Search OB tampons and read up on it
