I took my 2000 Jeef Cherokee in about this, the exact same thing happened to me my emergency brake light kept coming on but would only stay on for a bit and then go off. I took it in, paid money and they told me that the brake worked it just had a faulty sensor that would cost a bunch to fix. So I guess if my emergency brake was on I would never know, but I would take it to go get looked at just in case. Good Luck

It's just a little switch on the parking brake lever to tell you if you left the brake on. They come loose or get out of adjustment. It's a very easy fix, and nothing to worry about. Just be sure the brake is off when you drive until someone can take a look at it.

If it is a truck the brake is usually a foot petal. Sometimes you can push this petal just enough to turn the light on but not actually cause the truck to brake. pull the handle to release the emergency brake and make sure the petal comes all the way back up. If it is not that......... i don;t know lol

This light could also be caused by a low fluid level in the brake master cylinder. You may want to pop the hood and give this a look.

either low on brake fluid or the e brake cable is stretched. look under the car to see if it is stretched out. check to see if the e brake works as well. and make sure it is not engaged still lol

its probably just the switch that's gone bad on it,to remove the light you have to pull the dash, and that's a bad idea, because it needs to stay working on it,id just replace the switch, then you,ll know when the brake is on or not, taking the bulb out is a bad idea, because if you do have the brake on and forget its on ,you could drive off,and burn the e- brake out on it,so just replace the switch on it,there not expensive at all, good luck on it.
