I had a yeast infection, or I think its one and I did the monostat 1 on Sunday. I check cervical fluid daily and I left it alone since the monostat 1 is in there but it should be gone now and today i checked the fluid and it is thick chunky and yellow. Is this the monostat still remaining because i was sure it was all out or is this a persistant yeast infection? Ive felt that something isnt quite right down there and yesterday my clitoris actually hurt. If this is a bad yeast infection what would normally happen? I am trying to get pregnant so i dont want to ruin chances of conception...

I would definitely wait to get pregnant, until your infection is cleared up.
I would also have your partner be treated otherwise, he will give the infection back. Make an apt. with your doc. for both of you & figure out what is going on.

What works for one woman, may not work for he other. In addition, if one amount of product worked the first time a yeast infection was noticed – next time might need more of the medication.

Therefore, the yeast infection, specifically the candida albicans (the fungus that causes the infection), becomes more and more resistant to the medications. Soon, it seems as if the woman treats an infection, is doing fine for a week, then gets another one!

As this may be true, it is more probable that the first yeast infection was not fully gone. If a woman has more than four yeast infections in one year, many doctors will test for more complex problems -- such as HIV or diabetes. Both HIV and diabetes tend to suppress the immune system – thereby lowering the body’s natural pH level – leaving a body more at risk for infection.

Therefore, the recurring yeast infection may be treatable, but the medication may only be treating the symptoms – not the actual cause. Men can also carry a yeast infection without any symptoms – especially if he had intercourse with a woman who had a yeast infection. If you do come down with one, be sure that your man is treated for one as well. If not, you will just be passing a yeast infection back and forth forever!

In addition, if the causes are not treated, then the yeast infection will return, and could return with a vengeance. The more yeast infections a woman gets, the more difficult it is to treat. Also, the more difficult it is to treat, then the worse the symptoms become, and the less they are relieved by modern medicine!

You can try healthy home treatments if you want before seeing a doctor. There are some cited in the source.

It might not be a yeast infection at all. Most self diagnosed yeast infections are actually something else. You need to see the Dr for a culture to make sure you are treating the right thing.

It's always good to get the opinion of your doctor. Recurring yeast infection is common but can be cured with proper diet etc.

I found this resource helpful: http://www.cure-yeast-infectionz.com/ Gives information on how to cure yeast infection naturally and permanently.

Okay the only way to trully be sure about what you have is to go to the doctors. I thought i had a yeast infection too and did the monistat thing and that made me actually bleed and i just went to the doctor and i did not even have a yeast infection....So just stop doing everything u are doing and got to the doc...

If your yeast infection persists, it is best for you to visit a gynecologist. They will take a urine sample and run test for you to detect if you have yeast infection, or other types of bacteria--such as urinary infection, which usually hurt. Women are much more prone to bacteria, simply because we cannot wash the inner tissue. Especially if you are trying to have a baby, you would not want to risk any long term damage, please visit a gynecologist because a long persisting yeast infection may cause other bacteria to grow, which, in a long term, can cause more discomfort and long term problems.

The best thing to do is ask your doctor, sometimes it may not be a yeast infection, especially since your clitoris hurts, I am a diabetic and having yeast infections is a part of life for me, so just simply call your doctor...if you don't have one go to webmd.com you can ask questions there and it is a huge help. Good luck!

although it is a one day treatment....it still takes the full 7 days to be cured....the medication is meant to work over the 7 days.....if after a week you still feel symptoms, call your doctor

another option if you have prescription insurance is Diflucan....you take one pill orally when you feel the symptoms start and it works over the 7 days to fully cure the yeast infection.....it works like a dream for me, but it doesn't work for my friend.....she uses the regular 3 day treatments and doesn't have a problem

just so that you know when you are pregnant you have a higher chance than normal to get a yeast infection....when you are pregnant they give you the 7 day treatment.....it didn't affect my pregnancies

I would go see your doctor or gynocologist because this sounds like a bad yeast infection. The monostat should of cleared it up but since it didnt that means that should get a prescription from the doctor to clear it up!

Go to your doctor. I bought that monostat stuff once, what a waste of money. It took care of the pain but not the infection. I had to go to my doctor. She gave me a good prescription and the infection was gone in less than a week. Your doctor can also answer your questions about it effecting your chance of getting pregnant.
