Three reasons someone may follow dictatorship?

3. Less buricratic decision making (things get done quicker)

While a dictatorship is frightening at the idea of one person with that much power (absolute power corrupts absolutely) historically countries there have been many countries that have thrived well under a dictatorship and full apart under a well meaning democracy.

1) A dictator is able to get things done quickly (less bureaucracy) .
2) A dictator is able to enforce laws and protect people.
3) A dictator is able to reform government.
And an extra answer:
4) A dictator is able to get country out of the gutter and back on track to prosperity.

One thing that you may want to look into is what was there (government wise) prior to the dictator coming to power, that enabled him to take control. You are likely to find a strong dissatisfaction with whatever was there before and the dictator was promoted as the cure.
