At the Hamptons Film Festival a few years back I saw this bizarre film called the Pigeon Egg Strategy. It was black and white, filmed somewhere in Asia with mostly American actors. The plot revolved around assassins and an intertangled chain of events. There was a lot of strange dialog. It was almost a stream of consciousness film. Not surprisingly, it never got a distributor. No major film I've ever seen was this strange, nor would I imagine one ever would be.
The strangest major studio film I ever saw was probably Jacob's Ladder.

(Some Kind of Sacrifice)! Madonna's first film before she was big. She was like 17 years old and was in a sex cult in NY. The was shot on 8m the sound cuts in an out. I have it on VHS with the origianl sleve and took forever to find it. I believe it's out of print now! But she has hairy armpits and the movie is very goth and disturbing. Makes no sense at all I think it was shot in 79 or 80.

You want strange?
Try "The Dark Backward", starring Judd Nelson as a garbage man who moonlights as the world's un-funniest stand-up comedian. His career takes a suddent turn when he starts growing a third arm out of his back....Bill Paxton ("Big Love") plays his accordian-playing, dog food-eating best friend; and there are lots of good cameos by Rob Lowe, James Caan, Wayne Newton, etc.

Nightwatch, the movie about vampires who don't necessarily need to drink blood and can go out in the day and something about a kid and possible Armageddon. It might have been the language barrier (the movie is Russian), but I think it makes no sense.

I would say: Dracula. I'm talking about the one with Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Anthony Hopkins, and Keanu Reeves. It was a seriously weird movie. Seriously.
